Thanks for sharing this information . I never trust medicine , it just goes to show doesn’t it . I do hope you feel better soon . Will you carry on taking this drug or will you stop taking it ?
Hi Noise1966 I'm sorry to here about you tinnitus. Mine came back a good while ago and I spoke to my doctor she said it's possible it could be some of my meds I'm on but I joined here and a very nice person said to me have you had your hearing cheak I said not for over 3 years I was already wearing hearing aids. So I got an appointment and found my hearing had got worse as soon as my new hearing aids were fitted tinnitus has gone I must say I struggle at bed time when I take them out but it's one of them things I deal with. Xx
So that med is for raised blood pressure, according to my quick research.
Sorry I pressed ‘send’ before I had finished replying. I was going to say, if your BP meds give side effects your doc might want to try different ones. Mind you, all medication has side effects. Personally I take BP meds and they don’t seem to affect me except keep my bp under control - but then I’m lucky. Certainly didn’t make my tinnitus worse.
Hi Noise
Welcome to the forums. We can never quite tell whether medication is at fault during an increase in tinnitus or if the reason for the rise lies somewhere else.
I normally check the Yellow Card database to see if the reports of a symptom being worsened are supported by data:
info.mhra.gov.uk/drug-analy...
12 total reports - so certainly some people have reported interactions with this medication and tinnitus, albeit at what you might describe as a low number.
I would have to guess that the type of tinnitus you have might shed more light on the increase - if it were pulsatile tinnitus, rather than a tonal sound, for example.
I have been on bendroflumethiazide for years for blood pressure and water retention never did anything to my tinnitus ever
Hi there, so from what I was reading online it looks like that loop diuretics can cause ear ringing because they are potent, and although the medication you are taking is classified as a thiazide diuretic, if you are sensitive it could cause ringing too.
