It would be amazing if you could get involved with the #ThisIsMySilence campaign during Tinnitus Week which is taking place from 1-7 February.

If you use social media please share a post about your tinnitus, along with a photo of yourself. Help us show people the real face of tinnitus and the impact it can have on those experiencing it.

You choose your photo. You choose your words. Be as honest and open as you like to explain your tinnitus - or the tinnitus of those you care about - to others. You can tag in friends, family, celebrities. The sky's the limit. Let's get our voices heard this Tinnitus Week. Please be sure to tag BTA on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter, and include the hashtags #ThisIsMySilence and #TinnitusWeek in your posts so that we can share, retweet and like as many posts as possible.

Full details and example posts can be found at tinnitus.org.uk/this-is-my-... and if you are able to get involved, and we do hope you will be able to, please post to your own social media channels from Monday 1 February 2020 when Tinnitus Week 2021 launches. Thank you!

Why are there no replies to this thread?

I've had some time away from T websites, but came back on as it's TAW. What do I find? Two smiley ladies enjoying their life and some bloke on holiday somewhere.

This is not representative of problem tinnitus.

Where are the pictures of people trying to hide their tears from their children? Searching for trees to hang themselves from? Desperately contemplating having to attempt to live the rest of their lives with this abominable affliction? Crying 'cos they can't concentrate on their work, but knowing that the condition isn't considered serious enough to warrant any support whatsoever? Struggling to get through one hour / one day at a time, horrified at the thought that this will be repeated ad naseum for the rest of your miserable days? Going to bed at 7pm 'cos unconsciousness is the only place to go to not have to hear the torment?

Hi Rudd1boy. I totally understand what you have posted. Every day is a total struggle. I no how you feel about looking for that tree. Iv not been on here since last year and only back on. I would have replied to your message. My T gets louder as the day goes on. I can feel your frustration in your message. Everyone’s T is different. I can totally relate to your thoughts. Please don’t give up on this site.

Hi, l think the best stance is to find a way of ignoring it, because it's not even real (except in one or two medical conditions). That's probably why T.A.W. isn't a major hit.

You want pics of people wanting to hang themselves, not these "Two smiley ladies enjoying their life and some bloke on holiday somewhere." Maybe they are going through that now? Or have been through it and overcome it? I imagine everyone contemplates suicide once tinnitus begins, no matter how severe it is. Torture is torture, even if it's a dripping tap. I think their placid visages are meant to give us hope.

Can you imagine the damage it would do to show a person hanging from a tree, or standing next to a tree with noose in hand? More to the point: there's no point in that. The placid visages at least have a point.

That said, l'll pass ;) in fact l shall probably pause my forum time for a bit ... take my mind off a certain something hehe.

By the way Ruud1boy : i hope you are well and coping. This isn't a place like other forums where people put other people in their place - so l hope you don't feel that's what l'm trying to do. In an odd way, our suffering makes us shine, it makes us courteous to each other, l like some of the beautiful replies people give each other on here. You won't find that on a forum about other topics. I like to think l've found a positive in all this suffering.
