As I think I have said to you before, the T is not going to go away. Your job is to gradually get yourself habituated to it over a period of weeks or months so that you notice it less. Have you read the website of the British Tinnitus Association? The website gives you lots of hints and tips on how to do this, and other posters on this forum have replied to your earlier posts saying how they have coped. You just have to learn how to cope - no-one else can do it for you. No-one can tell you how long it will take, it depends on the individual.

You need to forget this noise by diverting your attention on other matters. Don't entertain thoughts about tinnitus. Keep away from loud sound like parties, orchestra etc. During bed time keep a slightly noisy fan or buzzing AC and align your tinnitus to this mild noise. Reduce salt in diet. I am living with it for thirty years. I got used to it. All the best!

Coping mechanisms is how I do it, I have a few diffrent things to distract me from my T. Certain sound tracks currently Carbon Basedlife Forms a electric band seems to distract my T. I wear Aids as I've lost my hearing these also have a white noise setting that I can set from white noise to waves. The biggest challenge for me was accepting that T is part of my day to day now mine is constant in my left and intermittent in my right.

So sorry to hear that you are struggling and I know from experience how difficult it is to ignore when the T is loud. Unfortunately, as others have said, it can take varying times to habituate to living with this. I've had T for over 30 years and, as awful as it is that I will never be free of it, I know that I can now live with it. Personally, distractions of any type are what helps me, they can combine together to take your mind off it. Wishing you well.

Hi Deltec. It's a hellish thing to live with and I have had it now for about three years. Mine is a very high pitched static/hissing which is very intrusive and I can hear it above every other sound around me. To be honest, I could stand beside a brass band or a pneumatic drill going full tilt and and still hear it! When it spikes, it gets even louder and feels like my head is being drilled through from one side to the other. On the odd occasion, it subsides to being barely audible but these quiet spells are very few and far between so I have to live with it practically 24/7. There are several things I do to try and cope with it and I'll tell you what they are but everybody is different so you'll have to experiment until you find out what suits you best.

Firstly, avoid anything that makes you anxious or feel stressed. I had to give up my freelance design work over year ago and it helped a little.

Avoid any noisy environments and by the same token, also avoid absolute silence!

Try and have relaxing music playing in whatever room you are in.

Focus the brains attention away from the head noise by doing something you have to concentrate on. Hobbies are good for this and mine are photography and painting.

Get outdoors as often as possible and take in the sounds around you.

I find a hot shower or a steamy bath can take the edge off it when it spikes.

If you are taking any medication, read the side effects on the leaflet, as some medicines can cause or make tinnitus worse.

Avoid any late night computer or phone use.

My method for getting to sleep is simple and it has always worked for me. Just empty your mind of all thoughts and concentrate on your breathing.

If you haven't discussed this with your GP make an appointment and have your ears checked for any deep wax or deafness. You might be referred to ENT at your local hospital.

That's about it really and I hope this helps. We all aim for habituation to make living with it a bit easier but it's a long hard road and I still struggle at times. I hope you find some peace soon.
