It is indeed sad that you should have it when so young. You know there’s no cure - but you’re young enough so that sometime in your life one might come along. Look what they’ve just found for Covid.

Do read up everything you can about it, from sources you can trust, and don’t believe any miracle cures that you could see. Have you asked to be referred to an audiologist for guidance?

Sorry you have Tinnitus, have you been to your Doctor, asked to be referred to a hearing therapist, they will be ab to help you, use apps on your phone to listen to music you like, play computer games, anything that takes your mind off it, ask for a hearing test, and other tests to be done, use white noise, ask for white noise maskers, they will help you, take care, best wishes

Hello S,

Firstly if you are feeling SO bad you absolutely must make an apt to see your dr. He/she should be able to give you help and advice.

What I will tell you is that I have had absolutely horrendous tinnitus for 3 years now. At first I thought I wouldn’t be able to live with it, but now it hardly bothers me unless I have what everyone calls a spike and

D even then I don’t worry too much cause I know it will settle.

This will happen to you too, but get help if you are feeling so bad.

Don't loose heart. I have been living with it for 34 years. You will get used to it. Learn how not to aggravate the condition. If it is not neurological but confined to only the ear you may find a cure.

Best wishes.

Hi, I know how you are feeling. My tinnitus started 14 years ago and It made me so sad as well. I didn't know how I was going to live for a while. I couldn't sleep, I couldn't eat and my whole life seemed ruined...…. Now it hardly bothers me at all, its still there, just the same, but my brain has got 'used' to it. I have what is called 'habituated' to it. I admit, it doesn't happen over night, but it will happen. I have had spikes when it seems to get worse over the years and these in the early days affected me a huge amount. However now if I have one I don't panic about it I don't get anxious about it and it eventually goes back to normal. One thing that I would say is don't trawl the internet looking for a magic cure, you will no find one and stay away from forums with loads or negative posts about how people are not coping with tinnitus, it will just make you focus more on your own tinnitus and it will take you longer to habituate. I admit Doctors don't seem to help much, but if you are feeling really depressed at the moment (I was when my tinnitus started) see your GP. I was put on anti depressants and these made me feel so much better and I was able to cope with my tinnitus so much easier. Look up and read about habituating to tinnitus. Take Care.

Hello, A couple of years ago i was at where you are now, and did indeed think quite a lot about ending it all, then i realised the source of the problem wasn't actually the problem, it was me and the way i was reacting to it. You already know at the time of writing there isn't a cure so please don't fall for the magic cures that you can find on the internet. Do however start taking control of the way you react because at the moment you are unconsciously training yourself to feel the way you do. Start looking at things that make you happy, build a happy wall where you can get pictures or moments that make you happy, and put it all together, they must give you a happy emotion if it doesn't it doesn't go in. Next its all about training yourself to relax and not feel the way you do i would strongly recommend you look at a meditation app and take a few minutes out of your day to relax to give yourself the time you need to reset your thoughts, Because its THOUGHT thats the key element. When i came to that moment i gave my T a Name and called it billy buzz, every morning i wake up and and go alright Bill how you doing, Billy lets me know im alive and ready to enjoy the day, because Billy is a noise in my head but what billy can't no longer do is make me depressed thats my power thats where im in control. So my advice to you Sir is don't actually concentrate on the T but concentrate on you. One day i hope this habitation happens to me but if it doesn't im still going to enjoy the things in life that make's me happy

Hi, I've had Tinnitus for over 30 years, I used to think I can't live with this, it'll drive me insane, but I'm still here, I hate it, but come to the conclusion, instead of letting it ruin my life, treat it as a bit of a nusiance in your life, but nothing more, don't let it control you, don't try and lower it, just except it, ignore it, live your life, it can't hurt you, it's a silly noise, but you need to try and habituate it, if you don't hear it out loud, then that's good, sleeping is a worry I know, use white noise, or just persevere with trying to sleep with it, if your controlling it, you'll feel better, and forget about it, 8t takes it time, but you will get there, read books, listen to your favourite music, I used to dread getting up in the morning, but I've changed my tune, as I'm in control, still hear it, but take no notice of it, if I hear it, I don't care, it's been part of me for so long, ask your doctor to send you for councelling, you'll benefit from having someone to talk to, good luck, hope you're feeling better soon, X
