I am new to this site and it was recommended to me by the tinnitus organisation who have been assisting me greatly already. The T started after a b bad labyrinthitis infection and has not settled down since. I was already struggling with panic attacks before this and as you can imagine the T has left me feeling suicidal at times. Am under the care of mental health team as I know part of this is getting my mind in a better place. There’s no hearing loss and audiologist explained it’s all limbic system driven from the stress and panic. The added insomnia makes things even more difficult. Have had to go down the path of antidepressants now as have been resisting it for years. And diazepam at moment as well until panic is under control. On the better days I can do walks and breathing exercises and mindfulness. The bad days are just... really bad. And still cry a lot etc. V early days for me I know. I am lucky to have a v good mental health team and v good audiologist. But yes today is a worse day after v bad sleep. Anyway that’s my story up to now. Thank you

Hi Chall11

I have just read your message and feel so sorry for you but I can relate to your problems for sure so I’m hoping this message will make you feel better. Tinnitus is such a cruel thing which affects so many people. I have had it for 4 years after having a grommet put in my ear. Unfortunately I went on to have 6 more operations on my ear to try and help my tinnitus , I am now onto my second cochlear implant .. the first one was too painful . At the moment I am dealing with pain, high levels of anxiety and tinnitus so life is tough . I have been down the path of Valium and anti depressants and have decided to try CBD oil, which has been described by my Dr. I’m hoping it will help with the anxiety and pain which in turn should bring down the tinnitus. So don’t feel bad in taking the anti depressants if they do help you. Lucky I have a very supportive husband who has been very supportive . I also have a very good audiologist who has been very patient with me.

I hope you have more good days than bad, try to get your stress levels down . Message me any time or even if you want to private message me!

Take care,

Jenny

Hi Jenny. Thank you for your messages. I am 2 months down the line from this post and have adjusted very well to my new life with tinnitus. I was very fortunate to get so much help from my mental health team and the association. People on here have been very kind also and I try and support the new people that come on as I know exactly how they feel!

Best wishes to you x

Hi ... that’s great to hear .. I think I would have adjusted much better than what I have if I had have left my ear alone and not had so many operations .. partly because of my insistence! Do you have tinnitus in both ears and do you wear hearing aids?

Hi , this is Jenny . Just saying hello and hope things are still going well for you😊 you are probably more relaxed if your children are back at school. I live in Australia and all schools are open again.

I have started the CBD drops but very small amounts and only during the day. The first night I took them I felt sick the next morning. The drops are very legal though , have no THS in them , just want to try and get off the anti depressants. I also have awful panic attacks just as I am waking up for some reason, I think I feel panicky knowing of got another day of tinnitus. I hate them , would do anything to stop them . It’s a mind training thing. I can’t get the tinnitus volume down though .. it’s always on my mind which is the wrong thing to do.

Anyway will keep you up to date with the drops if you are interested ... you may not be but saying hello and really hope you are going okay.

Best wishes,

Jenny

Hi Jenny. It will be a long while before the kids go back to school. Probably September there are still hundreds of people dying every day here in the uk. My brother lives in Sydney and the picture is very different there!

I only get troubled by my tinnitus occasionally and considering I was brought to my knees with it where I wanted to end my life, I am doing well. I have had a lot of support from my mental health team and continue to do so. It was imperative as part of my on going healing.

Sometimes I get low vibration sounds as well as the constant higher pitches in both sides but I think it is when my nervous system is overloaded.

You really wouldn’t wish these things on anyone but we have to accept and try our best.

I know you have pain to deal with as well as other things.

Hope you’re doing ok. Caroline x
