Finally some relief from one sided tinnitus

I've had tinnitus for approximately one year in my left ear. It started out with a soft crackling noise (like the old static sound from television in between channels!) Over the past 6 months, the noise increased in frequency and volume to the point that it kept me from falling asleep. I went to the ENT and he had no answers for me. I do have hearing loss in both ears and wear hearing aids. About 1 month ago a large filling in my left rear wisdom tooth fell out and my dentist advised to get it removed as it was unfixable. Upon arriving at the oral surgeons office, I asked her if there could be any connection between the wisdom tooth and the tinnitus. She said possibly and we'd know for sure after the tooth was removed. The evening after the tooth was pulled, the tinnitus completely stopped for approximately 2 days. When I returned for my followup appointment, I thanked the surgeon as even though some slight static noise returned, it's still around a 90% improvement. I'd suggest everyone with tinnitus rule out wisdom teeth as a possible cause!

Hi @shakeekaBTA - May I know if your T came back after removing your wisdom teeth?

Unfortunately, yes it came back. I am aware of it mostly at night but with the air conditioner on, it somewhat drowns out the noise and I am able to fall asleep.

To clarify, I only had one wisdom tooth removed not all of them. I believe I may clench my teeth in my sleep so I don’t know if this has anything to do with the tinnitus.

Hi Alexisspencer1 . Thanks for your kind reply. I am sorry to hear it came back. It seems your T is on the low side if you are able to mask it with the A/C.
