Hi. First of all, I’d like say that I’m not very good at English as it isnt my mother language so please ignore any mistakes.
I’m turning 18 this year.
Actually about 2 months ago, i suffered from severe flu and throat infection ( for the second time). My sinuses were clogged and had a high grade fever of about 103-4 degree celseus. During this the ringing started in both of my ears and i got really scared. Actually I'm really afraid of damaging my ears or having a hearing problem that i never learned to swim because it scared me if water even entered my ears. So, The doctors gave me heavy antibiotics and brufen that i took 3 times a day. Thankfully the infection cleared but the T was still there and became more prominent at night. I went to an ENT specialist for a checkup and he told me that my ears looked fine and that the eardrums were shiny and healthy as ever and that should stop taking caffeine and tea and eat healthier. He also prescribed some tabs for better blood circulation of head region. I became care free cuz i thought that T would go away as the doctor had said. Maybe it was because I didn’t pay much attention to T and kept myself busy that I thought it was getting better. Then one night i slept just after taking coffee and i heard the T more. While sleeping i heard T and there was a sharp pain in my ear and them it subsided but the T remained. I’ve been really scared since then and cant help but keep focusing in T thinking that i might go deaf or that T will remain forever and increase in volume and i wont be able yo hear properly. Idk what to do. Im so scared nowadays. The T is bearable in the morning but gets pretty loud at night or maybe i focus on it more at night. I don’t even know. What should i do??

Avoid salt. Probably it gets louder at night because you are tired. I have had tinnitus for 30 years. I cannot tolerate quiet. During the night I always have a radio playing. I hope this gives you some help. Please do not be frightened . Good luck
hi blackpink101, you are young and strong plus your ENT doctor said it, your "eardrums are shiny and healthy as ever". I believe that your tinnitus will go away eventually. Try to stay calm and dont focus on it!
I have tinnitus few months now from an infection like you. Every few days i could see that it was weaker. Then at a music event i had an unexpected acoustic trauma. Propably my ears were still on recovery after the infection..
Again almost 2 weeks after the accident with a proper medication from my doctor, some supplements and myself try to protect my ears from loud enviroments (i wear earplugs) i see progress
ps. A healty diet and lifestyle will help reach your goal even faster!
Hi Ivan I am in about the same situation-4 months on after taking some medication, have started to go insane I have breakdowns I just cry and cry-it just doesn't go away-how do you sleep-how do you survive every day how do you work how do you concentrate?obviously we have something in common as the root cause of all this was not T it was psychological-and T is just reminding us of the depression keeping us in the loop. HELP
