Living with mild T for years now it getting louder & louder. Both ears are absolutely screaming it’s been bad in the past but nothing like this. Thought it was just a spike but it’s been like this for two weeks now. Seen all the (you are not alone) awesomeness online but it’s looks like I am I’ve tried the doctor I’ve been to the hospital ENT and had a MRI scan. All of them haven’t helped at all now I back were I started but this time with no options all I can do is suffer. This is hell only God knows how long a human being can take this.

Hi j

Sorry that you are having a hard time, I can sympathise at the moment, as I've three screeming banshees all wanting my attention.

It will quieten down.

A 'good' day for me is when the 'noise' suddenly grabs my attention ... and I realise that it hasn't bothered me for a while ... " Must have been a good day "

The only way that I can describe it to others, is to say that it is like having toothache ... you don't notice when it's not hurting, just when the pain starts back up ... I don't get to enjoy 'silence'

It's been really bad for a couple of weeks now ... maybe it has something to do with the 'infection season'.

I've had the flu jab ... when is the tinnitus jab due ????

I hope things calm down soon.

We are in the same boat.

Did ent not refer you to audiologists???, your story is very similar to mine, eventually when I saw an audiologist they fitted me there and then with “ maskers” small hearing aid devices, this has certainly helped my “ living hell” it took me a while to get used to them , but now life IS worth living again, just a word of advice, don’t bother going down the “ private” line, they will relieve you of 3K and for me not as good as nhs ones, good luck, you definitely are not alone.

Hi thanks for your response, the doctor did refer me to the audiologist the person I saw was only a young girl . I do ware hearing aids and she just checked if they were set right I told her about my T but she never said much about it. She certainly didn’t offer me any alternative help for my condition. My point is nobody seems to know what to do or say. Ps I did check the private root way out of my league money wise. Cheers

Wow, incredible, I must be very lucky as my audilogy dept has x2 specializing in T,, I have been seen once a week for approximately 13 weeks now, just moved to fortnightly, I guess it’s just where you live a lottery springs to mind, you need education about your setting etc etc especially the way you feel right now without that input I would certainly not be where I am right now. All the very best for improvement.

I am in much the same place as you are now, 40 years with mild tinnitus and the I suddenly it went wild. Feeling lost and I'll was an every day event. I handle it by using various tools we are told by most people to keep away from strong medication, but I have clonazepam and Zopliclone given to me by various Doctors . I use these sparingly but at the moment you seem to need some head space, a few hours or a day were you can think with a clear head and were the tinnitus is not the centre of your world.

My advice is to go back to your Dr and ask for some sleeping medication, with one or two days of 8 hour a night sleep you will feel more positive and your worries and fears will back off.

It is true that tinnitus can be hell and we only remember how bad it was the day before ,making a simple monthly graph helps with your feeling, list from 1 to 10 on each day how bad it has been also logging any medication you have taken and what you did that day. .After a while you can see that it has good as well as bad days, you will then have another tool to fight it with.

As I said I am in the same place as you are but try to keep positive, I hope you feel better soon.

I'd second what Photoboy says, go back to your doctors and get some short term meds to get you over the spike.

I live in fear of my T scaling the heights I know it can do, but I would be straight on the benzos if it does. When I asked about this with my GP, he basically said he'd give me whatever meds I thought would help. Clonazepam is a real sledgehammer, but it or something similar might be a necessary evil in your current situation.

Hi J I am sorry you are suffering it seems to be a vicious circle the lack of help from medical profession causes stress therefore T much louder. Took me a year to see audiologist who was very understanding because she had tinnitus. I don’t need hearing aids or masking aids . Try and hang on in there who knows perhaps someone will come up with help for us. Thinking of you.

Barbara.

Man do I feel your pain! Right now as we speak my T is silent after days on end of screaming and no sleep. It is so hard living

With this affliction. Just have to keep going

And do my own research. Cause nobody in the Medical world cares enough to help us

All the best

Hi there and am sorry That the t is getting you down so much. I'm fairly new to this forum and have had tinnitus all my life. I thought everyone had this thing going on and wasn't til a young adult I realised that not everyone had this constant noise nor that I'd got mod/severe hearing loss. Was never tested as a kid and was constantly accused of not paying attention or else taking no notice. At this point it did get me down and was too embarrassed to talk about it. I don't think the medics in general give it much time as it's not deemed a medical emergency and is just one of those things. Thankfully I've reverted back like as my days of ignorance and have finally accepted it but am so glad I happened upon this forum. The medics have no answers because there seems to be very little evidence of much serious research into it. I have, and always have had, a colossal swarm of angry bees competing with me which regularly get a car alarm joining in which competes with any outside sound even when using hearing aids. As yet there are no solid answers but I hope that with the voices of people like us and fellow sufferers that the medical professionals will take a more serious take on this. No it isn't deemed as a medical or life threatening emergency but listening to others it certainly is. It ruins lives. My fantasric audiologist was horrified and quite angry that I'd slipped thro the net and several, visits,to,my GP were dismissed when I complained I thought I had hearing issues and about this noise going on. I'd grown up,thinking my hearing was ok and the reason I had trouble understanding was because I struggled to hear over it. I feel fortunate maybe that it's always been there as can only imagine how it must be when it's acquired during life and gets worse. Am not saying it's fantastic and I'd love to know what silence is but suppose am resigned knowing it ain't gonna disappear and fortunately the regular spells if almost complete deafness with the screaming does subside leaving the angry bees. I empathise with you and would say that if it is possible to gain some kind of acceptance for now that the less you focus on the damn thing it does kinda take a seat further back. As a kid I used to play my music loud etc to drown it out especially at night (not recommended I guess). Now however I've took up some of my old hobbies again and find if my mind is focussed on something I'm enjoying then it fades and for that time I don't take notice of it. Stick with this forum as it is good to know there are others who find this thing difficult and also give some sound tested real life advice and experiences. Maybe with forums such as this and also people like well known musicians speaking out and more awareness in general of how devastating this can be then perhaps more research will be done towards finding treatments or ways of alleviating the thing.

I wish you well and hope you find a professional who,is willing to give more help than you've had so far.

Kind regards julia 🐈😻🐾🐾

Are you drinking enough liquid. My tinnitus was vile yesterday - and then I remembered two salty meals the day before and waking up parched, with really loud tinnitus. Today things are much quieter and plenty of liquid is being drunk.
