Im new here today! tinnitus following microsuction

had 2 bouts of microsuction a week apart. I noticed that in between the 2 sessions, a buzz was now accompanying the still totally blocked ear. Ear was then cleared a few days later but now 4 days on buzzing has remained and intensified on day 4. Ear still feels slightly tender - i had 2 weeks of zero hearing and intense pain from the impacted wax so fully expected to have some soreness but obviously concerned about the buzz! I know there is some controversy about the safety of the procedure..has anyone experienced temporary tinnitus following microsuction or should i expect to be in this for the long haul. Any comments appreciated..thank you kindly!

I would keep your fingers crossed over the next weeks and hopefully it will settle down. I would also respectfully suggest ignoring any drivel Sunil starts firing your way.

So you're saying earwax softening drops cause tinnitus? Am I understanding that right?

You need to keep your wild theories and convoluted 'solutions' to yourself friend.

Thanks for the info guys. Still buzzing and get a whistling sound accompanying every footstep which takes a bit of getting used to. Ear still feels tender (although hearing seems great!) so will see how things go over the next few weeks... got a ENT appointment Thursday so will hopefully get a little more detail then.

Give this 12 weeks. Dont sit in a silent room. Play light music or move around in Market.

ENT didnt seem to take much interest. Said ear drum looks fine, it can take a while to settle down after microsuction for impacted wax, 10 days was far too early for any concern. I kind of went along with it as hissing was zero yesterday, but of course its back full blast today!

Hi there,

Ive had my hissing 6 months now following a left ear irrigation. Now in my head though. It rarely seems to fluctuate and has NEVER gone to zero. Personally I would take hope from the fact that yours has gone, albeit briefly. If it can do it once ?. The brain really is a pain in the rear end...well mine is as no matter how hard I try my brain looks for it. If Im engrossed however I dont hear it. Seems nigh on impossible initially but try and not listen for it.

Good luck,

Shell

How on earth can ear drops cause tinnitus???? This condition is possibly either caused by damage to the tiny hairs in the cochlea or it is a neurological disfunction - both areas on the other side of the ear drum where the wax softener cannot go!

The world is certainly louder after either syringing or microsuction and hearing does need to settle down after either procedure.

My son had the same thing that lasted for 2-3 months and then vanished for ever. Its normal. Don't listen to loud music at all but dont sit in silent environment. Just focus on your life and do some Yoga for 2-3 months ..

Hello,

Sorry to bother you I have reactive very annoying hissing following micro suction. Did your son get better? Was it reactive?

Hi .. I realise your post was a year ago.... so do you mean the tinnitus lasted 2/3 months after microsuction? ... I am only 2 weeks since having it done, ringing still there... 😊

Hello.I read your message but I couldn’t understand if your son had the same problem after the microsuction.I am suffering from 2 months from tinnitus after I did an ear microsuction.

Did this ever resolve or calm down for you? I am in a similar situation. I have hissing in my left ear following microsuction

Hi everyone, I think we’re all in a similar situation here, hoping I can also receive some advice. I got tinnitus in my right ear following a mild concussion. As I went to the ER I was told I had a lot of earwax and should get it removed. I, the idiot that I am, said okay. I DID NOT get the syringe method. I had an ear irrigation involving a spray bottle and tube. The procedure itself was painful but pushed through it because I was told that it was normal. I’ve had tinnitus and a full feeling in my ear ever since. I’ve gone to an ENT, who has been of little help and am just worried that this will be permanent. Had an audiogram done and no signs of hearing loss although sometimes my ear feels full and hurts a bit. Any thoughts?

Hi ,

I have been suffering from the same thing as you recently following micro suction, did the fullness in the ear ever go away?

Hello. Did the fullness and tinnitus ever go away?

Sorry but thats just not true.My tinnitus came from occupation loud noise, others start with virus or injury.

Absolutely no evidence of injury/tinnitus from ear drops.

That said microsuction can be harsh always best to soften the wax first, warm olive oil is kindest.

Worry not. Sunil got kicked off and excluded from the forum a while ago for the outlandish rot he was spouting.

There's enough misinformation about tinnitus floating around in cyberspace without more being generated on here.

It has never gone away 100% but i have decent periods of silence and am fairly relaxed if the hissing comes back, as i Iknow its only temporary. Ive learned not to take naps as this seems to be a sure fire trigger, and post-exercise can give me a short blast. It has subsided a great deal since the immediate onset, and I think accepting that it will come and go is a good place to get to as relaxation is a big key for me. Hope this helps!

Yes I have very loud tinnitus I saw my ENT registrar on a routine visithe noticed I had wax in my tinnitus

eat and asked I would like it removed. Explained T was extreme

he proceeded to micro suction the wax out. It was extremely loud I nearly pulled away from the procedure. My tinnitus had gone through the roof. I phoned his secretary and asked for him to call me, he did and I complained he apologised. It took 2 weeks to settle back down.
