My tinnitus tonight is very loud and a bit painful, also they keep popping. doctors said it's because of an middle ear infection, also with fluid in my ears. I'm starting to think that the noises will never go, I've never suffered with tinnitus before and I'm praying it won't be permitment.

Hi Kayley! I'm just replying to give you some hope and reassurance. I am 18 years old and I have recently been posting to this site as I too have been suffering with tinitus. I have been extremely upset and worked up over it (feel free to read my last posts)! I took 2 trips to the doctors within a week and I was told I had a middle ear infection and inflamed ear drums. my case sounds exactly the same as yours, and I know I felt the same as you, like it would never leave. However, since starting the antibiotics, it had slowly become quieter, and today, a week after beginning to take them, I can barely hear it, it might even not be there at all. So don't worry, I believe it will go just as mine did:) xxx

Hiya,

I'm glad yours has gone, it's so horrblie! I woke up in the morning and it's the first thing I hear! :( they did give me antibiotics but it hasn't really done anything :( what type of antibiotic did you have? Maybe I need to be on them longer, I've just finished mine today, did you ever suffer from neck pain too or have any swelling around the jaw area? X

Yes it is. I got really upset over it, in fact, I started crying in front of the doctor. Yep it was the same for me, night and morning, when watching tv, trying to do my uni work. It got louder and worse before it got better.

What does yours sound like? Mine is still there very quiet if I concentrate but nothing compared to what it was, I also think mine was caused by loud noise as well as the infection. How long have you had it for?

They gave me amoxicillin and an ear spray called OTOMIZE. I also breathed in steam over a hot bowl of water 3 times a day, taking ibuprofen too.

I didn't have any swelling around the jaw, but I did have some pain in my neck and head around my ears. I also was extremely sensitive to sound, every thing I heard sounded a lot louder and made my ears make this weird kinda popping sound. I've been putting cotton wool (not in the ears) gently on the outside of the ears to try and muff the noise.

I'd definitely go back to the doctor because you'll probably just need the medication for a while longer, I've had to do that for various other issues before.

I know exactly how you are feeling, it's really just awful and thinking that you'll have to live with it forever is just as bad. But people do live with it, and you'll get to a point where you just won't hear it anymore as it will be the norm. I know that I got used to mine ( I had it for a month) and even tho I hated it, I just didn't listen to it. stay hopeful! As what you describe really does sound the same as what I experienced. xx

Yeah, i've cried with mine too :( Mines like a very clear ringing in my right ear and like a static noise in my left, I get a pressure feeling in my head, as well as headaches, I've never had the pressure feeling before, it's really strange. The pain my neck is quite bad, I think mine has been caused by a sinus infection which had spread into my ears because of my other symptoms. I always make myself and go and Google! It always comes up with some sort of head and neck cancer! :(

They have me that type of antibiotic too, and a spray for my nose, how long was you on your antibiotic before it got better? X

Hi Kayley,

I am wondering, has your tinnitus gone now? I am having what sounds like a similar thing to you. Did your tinnitus go with your pulse? and did it get louder if you had done exercise/were stressed? I have been prescribed Otomize earspray but have been reading online that antibiotics can make tinnitus worse so am worried about taking it!

Thanks!

Hi,was just wondering did your tinnitus get worse after using these ear drops?did sensitivity to sound ever improve?

Hello, you do not say if you are doing anything to stop this getting worse. Protect your ears and avoid loud noises would be a good start.

You used the word painful. I don't associate tinnitus with actual pain. If you have real pain you may well have an infection and should push your doctor to evaluate / treat any middle ear infection.

I'm trying to protect my ears as much as I can, the doctor doesn't seem to think there is no infection
