Skin Rush/Infection. What to do?

I have a skin infection on and off for the last 2 years, is itchy, hot and extremely unpresent. Starts with cold and flu symptoms and joints pain and a bit of temperature. I had a biopsy and blood test and told that I am having a fix drug reaction at cold and flue remedies. It wont go without antibiotics.

I still got it back even after I've cut off any pills. Can it be something else?

Ask your doctor to a biopsy for sweets syndrome.I have just been diagnosed with Sweets and your symptoms sound like mine. Good luck..

Hi LiaDana,

Weewheels is right. As this skin condition keeps flaring up you will probably need a biopsy. Skin conditions can be very difficult to diagnose and often look similar.

Just like Weewheels, I have Sweet's syndrome, but this is a rare condition. There are more common conditions such as eczema and dermatitis that could be causing your symptoms. Eczema and dermatitis often flare-up around the wrist area and can become infected causing skin redness, inflammation, blistering, oozing, fever and flu-like symptoms. However, because you also mention joint pain this could indicate that you have another condition - but many skin conditions cause joint pain.

As well as getting a biopsy you may need some blood tests. It can also be useful to keep a daily diary to see what might be triggering your skin condition, e.g. soap, detergents, sunlight, minor skin injury such as a scratch and medications.

You are also at increased risk of developing certain types of skin condition if you have existing health problems such as an autoimmune condition (e.g. rheumatoid arthritis) or inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis).

Please ask your doctor for a biospy.

I really do hope you get some answers soon. Your condition looks incredibly painful!

Sorry LiaDana,

You mentioned in a previous post that you've had a biopsy and blood tests. Sometimes repeat biopsies are needed to get an accurate diagnosis.

With drug reactions, symptoms normally start to settle once the medication has been stopped. However, this isn't always the case, and some conditions can be triggered by certain medications. Do you know what medications you reacted to?
