Hi I have been suffering with pmle for the last 5 years but this year it's out of control. Can anyone please give me any advice on what works well to prevent it and to sooth the rash once it has taken hold? The attached photo is my arm now and I'm going out of my mind with the itching burning sensation. I've never had it so blistered as this before. Thank you in advance for any replies..

Hi loulalara funny I've just broken out with the same thing on my lymphadema leg,never had tiny blisters before only Huge ones I'm sorry I am at a loss as to what might help you. I'm just sticking with bento ate right now until next wk then off to see the Dermatologist.

As for lymphedema, selenium (200 mcg daily) and P-5-P (a B vitaimn) daily will reduce the swelling.

Inflammation is part of the picture so eating as people with MS or RA do - a nono-inflammatory diet - should help a lot.

The first thing to consider is stopping gluten - wheat, rye, barley and triticale. These grains are inflammatory. It doesn't matter whether you have celiac disease or not. The gluten will make it easier for disease to thrive in your body.

Next, consider stopping dairy. Dairy is also inflammatory. Try replacing milk with almond or coconut milk.

Third, several foods contain a high quantity of lectins. Lectins are inflammatory. The good news is that most lectins can be destroyed by cooking a food in a pressure cooker for at least 20 minutes. (There are electric pressure cookers now with timers so it gets easier.)

Peanuts are high in lectins and cannot be corrected so consider giving them up.

Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplant, beans and peas are all high in lectins. Cooking them in a pressure cooker (20 min minimum) will destroy the lectins and make them non-inflammatory.

Evening primrose oil lowers inflammation. People do well on 3-4 grams a day. You might consider taking 1 gram with each meal.

Poor you! That looks like a nasty rash.

The Mayo Clinic also recommends cold compresses, over-the-counter hydrocortisone based creams, and anti-inflammatory medications, e.g. ibuprofen.

Thank you all for your replies. I am cutting all the bad stuff from my diet and hopefully that will help ease the rashes. I've bought some eucerin suncream which is supposed to be good.

The best thing is to go to your GP and get some medication. I had PmLE this year and was given some cream that helped a lot and worked quickly.

Yes I can.... I have been on a bit of a journey with this little beastie of a rash 😱 it was a process of elimination for me and .... couldn’t believe the first thing I tried worked!!!! Yes it actually worked😀and the answer my itchy friends is ..... beta carotene 👍🏻👍🏻Take it at least 2 weeks before you’re sunny holiday or one a day if you live in a hot climate!!! I can’t guarantee it will work for everyone but it works for me!!! Builds up your melatonin before your vacation 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
