AST/ALT Ratio Question

The way I read it is it is only used when either both or one of the AST/ ALT is elevated out of normal range. I may be wrong as this looks like it has been debated. I guess people see there AST let’s say 16 and ALT 15 and get worried. I’m not sure how this really works as in that ratio is used . Any info is appreciated

I heard if both are within the range it doesn’t matter if ast is higher.
