Hi, Had my 2nd revised tips (6 weeks after the first one) in July. I'm still in transplant clinic and been told I will be for at least 12 months to he sure things working well.

Anyway, had my 3 monthly check with ultrasound in Feb 2023 (Had a CT scan October 2022 to check) and all looked fab.

Came home on Friday to a letter from my consultant asking me to call his PA because my Alpha Feto-Protein is elevated and I need to have more bloods and a CT to investigate further.

Google has given my an idea of what elevated AFP can indicate.

I'm curious, has anyone been in the same position?

Hi. I have had my AFP monitored since I was diagnosed with HCC. My initial AFP was 750 and the doctors diagnosed me with HCC. Said anything above 500 was severe and indicated metastasis. When I started treatment with Y90 it went as high as 25,000. Doctors said treatment would cause AFP to increase. So, TIPS may increase AFP. Ask your doctor. After Y90 and immunotherapy now over 2 years later my AFP is less than 2 and HCC is stable with some shrinkage. I know this is my prospective but hope it helps. Much success. Wayne
