Covid positive and liver damage?

Hi all I’ve just tested positive for covid. Was due to have a ct scan tomorrow but obviously had to cancel. This has been rebooked for 2 weeks time. My liver bloods all came back normal the other day but I still feel I must have caused some damage with the amount I was drinking and I understand bloods don’t give the full picture. Obviously I’ve no diagnosis of liver disease yet and I no longer drink so I was hoping if I haven’t damaged my liver beyond repair it might now be repairing itself as best it can....but now I have covid and it’s made me worry about my liver further....Can anyone tell me how bad covid can affect the liver? Like to what extent?

I'm sure that research into covid and long covid and strains of covid are ongoing and as yet, there are no long term findings.

Vaccinations are the key to beating pandemics. They lessen the effect of viruses such as covid. If you have had your 2 vaccines (and a booster would be better) it would greatly reduce any risk of damage.

A couple of members have had covid and they have cirrhosis, but, we should always follow the guidelines and stay safe.

Thanks Dave, I have been double jabbed and had my booster, I don’t feel too bad off the covid but only day 2, just more concerned about my liver and whether it’ll cause more damage I guess. Appreciate your reply thank you

Orate Dave, when my local hospital said I tested positive for COVID I just accepted it because I was so concerned about my liver disease. When they wisked me away to the covid ward with no symptoms (I know you sometimes don't have to have any) I felt more at risk because I hadn't had any vaccine yet. For the hospital to isolate me after 7 days started to make me think. Then a few months later I was diagnosed with end of life liver disease (I'm not saying that was anything to do with covid) but what I will say is that"people who were dying was usually from a underlined illness or a different virus/infection". So what happened with me and now I'm on immunosuppressants having to go to the hospital every week for check ups. So what I'm trying to say after one major operation and another small operation and just keeping within guidelines and always using the antibacterial lotions life can still move on without overreacting. Use your common sense and sensibility and carry on with life.

I’ve read some of your other posts. I’m also 30, female, and long history of alcohol abuse. I have no diagnosed liver disease as my labs are normal and I’ve all the tests including biopsy that says normal. I have had URQ pains and similar to your bowel issues for a couple years now. I also just got over Covid a week ago and so far I seem ok. I had to reschedule my labs for next week and I’m interested to see if anything changed after recovering.
