Does anyone know anything about the ELF blood test. Should be under 9.8 - mine was 12.2 and liver enzymes were high too. Noone can tell me just how bad this could be.

Who has run this test for you? If it was your doctor they should explain your result and take the next steps in managing your condition. As you've already found, a score as high as yours does point to some liver damage as you also have ongoing inflammation this needs to be tackled a.s.a.p.

ELF is usually used in Non Alcohol Related Fatty Liver Disease and if that is thought to be the issue there are things you can do to try to bring inflammation levels down and even potentially reverse any damage.

The British Liver Trust has an excellent page on NAFLD at:- britishlivertrust.org.uk/in...

They've also released details of a study which shows that eating a Mediterranean style diet can be hugely beneficial in NAFLD. britishlivertrust.org.uk/ea...

The web page also has a patient contract which details the level of care you should receive in order to confirm a liver diagnosis and then the necessary follow up. britishlivertrust.org.uk/li...

I see on your other post you mention a long wait for fibroscan, it's probably not the best scan at the given time anyway because it can give a false high reading in the presence of elevated liver enzymes / ongoing inflammation.

Seek referral to a hospital specialist and an ultrasound scan to start the ball rolling with investigations into what is causing your issues. The NICE guidelines demonstrate what assessments should take place to establish a diagnosis if NAFLD is suspected. cks.nice.org.uk/topics/non-...

As you wait then take all necessary personal steps to try and take control of the condition yourself. If you think you are overweight, eating too much of the wrong stuff, drinking, not taking enough exercise then these are things in your power to control.

Push for referral though.

Best wishes,

Katie
