Had CT 1/19 and US 2/21. All unremarkable liver. Had CT 5/21 for something else and showed enlarged fatty liver after 3 month binge. Labs slightly elevated. Could there be irreversible damage that never showed? Dr says unlikely scans would miss damage but I’m scared now. If I reverse the fatty liver can I drink on occasion? Like vacation?

Advice about drinking with fatty liver.
Hello , I would encourage you to look at lifestyle improvements for now - abstinence from alcohol, good nutritious diet and exercise and discuss ongoing monitoring and follow up with your own doctors.

If you have just had a three month binge and now have fatty liver, it may be best to examine your relationship with alcohol and your reasons for drinking, and seek help or counseling to help with abstinence. Your liver damage may be reversible, but for those of us with complicated relationships with alcohol, the biological differences in our brains that make it impossible for us to stop at just one are not reversible. You will be doing a massive favor to yourself and your long term health by removing alcohol from your life. Good luck 💕
I read a couple years ago that fatty liver that’s mild can reverse rather quickly with alcohol abstinence, and rapid diet and exercise changes to burn fat. I know some friends who followed a very strict paleo/keto diet and found success. However, they made permanent changes because they didn’t want it to come back and felt better
Only comment needed is this and I hope you understand it.

51 months sober and staying that way!
Trust me it’s not worth the risk , I wish I had heeded the warnings my body and docs were giving me but like a fool I thought I could control my drinking now I have cirrhosis and you really don’t want that and it’s complications
