As you know we are not allowed to nor qualified to give any medical opinion. However, if his bloods are improving that is definitely a good sign. If he is decompensated it is possible to recover to the point of compensated liver disease depend on the undying cause.

Are they suggesting that he will require a transplant? If not what are hepatology suggesting you do to improve his health? Do you go to his appointments with him - if so then you can ask them for recommendations and support.

There are specialist nurses attached to most hepatology departments and they often have more time to talk and answer your questions. You may have to nag hepatology a bit to get your answers but you are entitled to know what is going on and what the treatment pathway is.

Good luck and I hope you get the answers you want - Peter
