Hi I’m new here. Im 39 years old female. I’m very concerned that I may have cirrhosis. I had my gallbladder removed a year and a half ago and the doctors removed two large black gallstones. Six months ago my doctor changed a medication of mine and during the new medication I began to have headaches and nausea. After 10 days my doctor told me to stop the medication. After that my tummy swelled and I started having pale stools. I put myself on a diet after having done some reading. I don’t believe the problem was the medication but I do think it may have made some problem that I already had worse. My nausea had gone since I’ve been on a diet but my tummy is still swollen and I’ve lost a bit of weight and still have pale stools. I feel I may have lost muscle also. I’m really worried. I’m currently seeing a gastroenterologist we have done bloods and mri’s. The mri were all clear but in my bloods my amylase levels were slightly above normal. They also found a little liquid in my duodenum but that disappeared after a week. This Friday I’m seeing my specialist again. I’m very nervous and scared. I read on the internet that black gall stones are usually a result of diseases of stasis such as ciirhosis so that’s where all my worries began. I thank you all for taking time to read my post and appreciate any advice.

Worried about Ciirhosis
The wonderful people on this forum will surely tell you that Dr. Google will stress you out beyond measure. Friday is a ways away to wait but stay positive ..at least give yourself permission to think the best. I too have lost weight and some muscle mass with no true diagnosis..yes its scary but instead of being afraid, I am changing my diet, buying organic dandelion tea, amazing grass, beet root powder etc to help my liver rather than stressing about what i don't know. Not a medical professional just sharing some insight of hope! You are not alone my friend
Thank you so much. I really appreciate your words. Yes Dr. Google had stressed me beyond belief. But I’m trying to take it day by day and be positive. Try to help my body as much as I can. For the past six months I’ve put myself on a strict diet and I think it helped with ending the nausea at least. So that’s one good thing. Are you ok? Do you also have similar symptoms. It’s so good to be part of this group where we are all supporting and understand each other.
Yes I am ok but I do have some interesting days. I do not have nausea but have experienced weight loss and muscle loss and some other crazy symptoms. Your situation could be something completely different. Aside from your amalyse being slightly elevated was their any high monocytes, wbc, rbc, etc? Anything else indicating possible chronic infection or inflammation?
Hello, my leukocytes were below average and the doctors found that I have hepatic steatosis but within limits. That’s all really. My good cholesterol has gone down also but I believe that is because I’ve been less active due to the lockdown situation we have at the moment. What other symptoms do you have? Have you had them for a while? Has diet helped you?
Ive been dealing with some bouts of dizziness, night sweats, feeling of coldness on my feet , stool once was pale now appearing darker. Your symptoms seem like they might be more related to something else if those are your only symptoms. Again im no medical professional just from my own personal experience, of course everyone is different. I hope this helps a little.
I have other symptoms also such as tingling in my legs and also a squeezing feeling on my left side of my tummy below the ribs. Also dry mouth at night especially. That’s all. I’m no medical either so you could be right. They maybe two different things completely.
Good morning, I was thinking of what you said last night. You told me that you started off with pale stools but that they appear to be getting darker. I think that’s a good sign. It sounds like your diet is helping you. If it’s pale I’ve been told it’s not normal but if yours is getting darker that’s a good sign. I may be wrong just speaking from what I’ve been told of course. Anyway I hope you have a nice day and thank you for the chat yesterday it really helped.
No problem! Your liver is on your right side just below/behind the rib cage so the feeling on the left is something else, i.e stomach etc. The medication could be causing all of these new problems. Make sure you write down all questions and concerns before your appt so you get the most out of your visit and leave with some since of peace! Best of luck
Thank you so much! I definitely will and I’ll let you know how it goes. Have you had a good day? How are you feeling? Also my stools have started to become darker also. So I suppose that’s a good sign. Again I will have to remember to tell the doctor everything.
Today is a bit challenging mentally but otherwise I am fair. Im ready to put back on my weight and muscle again for sure! But congrats to darker poo ! It does seem you might be getting back balanced.
