Is this a liver related condition?
Hi Sparky. Have you addressed your fatty liver problem by altering your diet by reducing your fat, sugar and salt intake? From this post l am assuming you have been diagnosed with PMR hence the steroid prescription? My husband too has Polymyalgia rhumatica ( diagnosed nearly 4 years ago) for which he is on methotrexate and gives himself a steroid boost as and when he needs it. Have you also been prescribed this? His pain is usually worse some mornings until he gets moving, it is important to exercise daily. A 2 to 3 mile daily dog walk certainly helps.
Best wishes
Laura
Hi Thanks for the reply my fatty liver was scanned and more blood test and the doc seemed ok with result so I take it things might have settled down but always worried. This polymyalgia came on after I had flue jag so not sure if it is a coincidence but had more blood taken yesterday to see what the levels are or if something else is causing this . I am sore in the mornings but as the day goes on I get better by tea time I feel like nothing is wrong then I get a sleep and it all starts over again, I walk everyday and I am into walking football but have had to miss it for a few weeks. So just waiting to hear back from doctor.
Cheers.
What time do you take your steroid? Mum has PMR and swears by 1st thing or she can't move.
I take them early morning just after I have had b/fast so around 8.00am
On waking I have really sore thighs and arms are a bit stiff . I hope things improve as time goes in. It takes me a few hrs to start feeling a bit better after meds.
Cheers.
Hi Sparky , as this question is more about your PMR symptoms than anything liver related (although I know you have issues there too) it might be worth you joining the PMR group on Healthunlocked too and their members might be better placed to advise on how med affect or work on them and relevant timings.
You'll find one PMR group at :- healthunlocked.com/pmrgcauk
Hope that's helpful.

Hi , unfortunately the usual morning stiffness and pain is fairly typical of PMR . You haven’t mentioned how long you’ve been taking prednisolone if it’s fairly recent hang on in there because you should soon feel the benefit most people with PMR get results fairly quickly for me it was within 4 to 5 days 15 mg is usual to start then your dr will taper off slowly as long as you’ve had positive results . If you don’t get relief you may need to go to 20 mg or it’s possible it really isn’t PMR because it’s accepted that the steroids can bring relief ...as you are taking them in the morning your taking them felt to be most appropriate by most ...hope this helps
Yes usually most people have relief in the first few days it is possible it’s not PMR ask your dr about trying 20 mg to be sure
