I had a CT with contrast last Tuesday due to finding a lesion on the liver. They said at the time results will be 7-10 days.
Has anyone had a CT requested by the hospital come back quicker?
I’m thinking that if it was a really bad result that I may have heard by now.

basically the answer is no. The technician taking the images is qualified to do so but isn’t qualified to interpret the images produced. This technician can get into serious trouble for commenting on any of the images or for giving an opinion.
These images have to be viewed by a doctor or consultant, someone who knows exactly what they are looking for. Sadly because of covid, some hospitals are having to work flat out.
They will get to you in due course. There’s nothing damaged that can’t be fixed, so try not to worry.
Just hang on in there, that’s all you can do.

I work in radiology.... a radiographer will take the image, X-ray, ct or mri then the images are reported on by a radiologist. Once the images have been reported on by a radiologist it is then when they get sent to the requestor. You are right in saying that a radiographer is not allowed to comment on any scans preformed but they also are not trained to know exactly what is seen on the scan.
Call your consultants admin/secretary. Explain you are anxious and frightened. She may well email the consultant and get them to get in touch with you. X
I tried a couple of times today to call them but simply couldn’t do it. I’m so frightened of what there going to tell me. Stupid a? I know the results may well be ok and I’m putting myself through extended misery for nothing but I just could not do it
I’ve told everyone that usually calls me not to because my heart goes into my mouth every time it calls. Who would have thought a bloody call about PPI could have me shaking in fear 😆.
I’m going to try and pluck up the courage tomorrow.

Still no news. Spoke to my gp today. He has not received any letters. I said would no news be good news. His words were don’t bank on it and they could have been missed. Certainly knows how to make you feel better!
Called the consultant secretary again. Another message left on answerphone again.
Now been 15 days since ct. I know they are very busy but this is absolute agony.
Hi Tracy, that’s a bit rubbish that you’ve not had your results yet? I think a call to the main switchboard informing them all you are getting is your consultant secretary’s answerphone wouldn’t be amiss! Maybe ask for a different contact method - maybe an email address so you can put your concerns in writing? I popped out of the MRI tube yesterday after 40 mins and the guy said to me, “You should get your results back in the next few weeks” - ‘weeks’ - I thought to myself and groaned hoping that’s what he said to everybody! They then bundled me out telling me a Covid patient was inbound so I ended up sticking my clothes and shoes back on in the hospital entrance foyer!
I know how anxiety inducing this can all be, keep trying the medical secretaries, eventually they will get fed up and hurry it along 😁. I had to wait 16 weeks just to get the registrar I spoke to at my routine appointment in July to send a letter to my GP asking them to add another medicine to my prescription. COVID or not it’s an absolute disgrace. I’m sure you won’t have to wait that long, but I know how it feels to be kept waiting x
7-10 days they said. This is now day 16. I feel a little unsettled that there has been no corrospondense between hospital and gp. Usually they write to say what they are going to do.
Secretary phoned me at 9 this morning. She said she didn’t have access to my results but confirmed that because I never got a call within the first few days after the ct I definitely have not got cancer. What a relief.
Just got to wait for the letter now x

That's great, I also heard its a common problem, maybe I have this too just waiting for my CT scan results.My symptoms were constipation, bloating, losing weight. Firstly my GP thought it was IBS. But then did blood tests, stool tests and CT scan. Just got to wait and see now. All the best with your surgery please keep us updated on here
