Recent fibroscan is 8kpa. Highest was 12.7 a year ago. Said cirrhosis at 12.7. So a reading of 8kpa.does that mean cirrhosis gone back to fibrosis

12.7 kPa wasn't cirrhosis if it was due to alcohol and only just into the cirrhosis banding for NAFLD. So very early cirrhosis or on the cusp of F3/4. At 8 kPa you are back at F2/F3 at the most which is GREAT news. Your lifestyle changes are working. Cirrhosis used to be thought of as irreversible but scientific evidence now shows it can reverse if the process by which the liver is being damaged is stopped or treated.

Good work.

Katie

In your favour is that your score of 12.7 kPa was in a grey area between fibrosis or early cirrhosis & if the score was inflated due to inflammation then your liver could be fibrotic with your latest score of 8 kPa reflecting the fact that your liver has repaired some of the damage. The score of 12.7 kPa needs to be looked at in terms of what factors caused it to be that high & what other test results show.

Whatever you have been doing keep doing it. If your liver is cirrhotic it's likely to be an early stage which means you could live a normal lifespan by following a healthy lifestyle.

The only way to determine the true state of your liver is a biopsy. If I was in your situation I'd keep doing all I could to help my liver & perhaps request a biopsy to be done at some point in the future after I felt that my health was as good as I could get it.

On the other hand if you don't want to know then just keep living healthily. With a peak FibroScan score of 12.7 the chances are good that even if you have early cirrhosis you can live a normal lifespan with good quality of life through careful lifestyle management. I wish you well.

Hi Chris

I just wanted to say congratulations on reducing your KPA which is excellent news and like others have said 'keep doing whatever it is' as it's working!

Good luck my friend

Sounds very promising-keep up the good work-I'll have to read your book! I haven't had any fibroscans , not even a U/s recently and unlikely to get one in the near future the way things are so same regime for me....trying for more weight loss, better fitness-pity my gyms just been closed. Well done.
