To work or not to work,that is the question

Shall I continue to go into work,or wait and see if I am advised to self isolate ? I work in a High Street store which is staying open, I have cirrhosis and take propananol and was very ill but seem fairly healthy now. Thanks

My thoughts would be to self isolate. Anyone who has an underlying health condition is at risk. I have asthma and mild liver fibrosis and I'm self isolating and I'm 37 so wouldn't be considered old but not young either lol. It's better to be safe x

I too would recommend isolation due to your health but only you can make that final decision .

I have no idea what I should do. I work as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in a Pre-Admission Unit at our local hospital. The Unit will close as planned surgeries are cancelled and staff will be redeployed onto the wards. My Consultant said I have a compromised Immune System and should NOT work on a ward environment and he would support me in staying off work. Occupational Health have a different view however. They say I am high risk but not VERY high risk so will be fine on any ward that's not A&E, ITU or Infectious Diseases. I have NO clues what's safest for me.

Gosh that is a predicament, I thought mine was bad enough ...... not sure but do whatever is best for you health wise.

I think you consultant has the upper hand here. Take his advice, stay off work and look after yourself . Stay safe, stay well

Like I said earlier to Tracy that only you can make that decision but if it was me I would self isolate as this is one nasty virus.

Please take care in the meantime but think deeply! I too have an autoimmune disorder and cannot risk an infection flare up

I am in the same situation. I have asthma and other respiratory problems and my partner has cirrhosis. I work in a well-known convenience store and am really stressing that I have to carry on going to work until the government tells us to self-isolate. I'm being extra cautious with the hand washing and hand sanitising, but I don't even WANT to be around people that closely. If I self-isolate now, I won't be paid.

Hi yes it's difficult to know what to do.I have to go on tomorrow and am hoping that on Monday to hear from NHS but I've no idea if we will be contacted on the day or later in the week and how they will contact us 🤔 do you know? any info would be much appreciated x

It seems to have been overlooked with schools and other issues getting more priority. It's also the over-70s that were mentioned, and no more has been said. I THINK that the NHS is only contacting those who are in the super high-risk category, such as cancer sufferers and others with suppressed immunology , but I may be wrong. I assume that others will be "notified" as part of a news briefing. I will post on here if I find out anything x
