Confused over diagnosis and prognosis of ESLD

Mum has cirrhosis of liver (or has she?) How do they make this diagnosis? She had mild jaundice and swollen tummy (ascites). Her endoscopy shows no signs of varices and all normal. She was given water tablets which has reduced the ascites - no signs of any fluid now, no jaundice? Her prognosis was 50% chance of living 3-6 months but now the doctor says that her liver tests are normal? I am so confused and so is my poor mum. She thought she was going to die very soon. Can anyone relate to this?

Hi,

I can see from your posts that you have quite a few questions about your mums diagnosis and symptoms. If you'd like a general chat and you are in the UK, why don't you call our nurse led helpline on 0800 652 7330?

We are open 10am to 3pm Monday to Friday.

Best wishes

Trust1

Hi I dont have any medical advice to offer but just wanted to say I'm saddened to hear that you and your family are going through such a tough time. The Trust administrators are a wonderful support and am confident they will be able to talk things through with you. I was incredibly close to my parents and applaud you for fighting her corner, good luck and hope you get some answers x

Hi

I don't think I can add anything else but just to say as LHR007 I'm so pleased you are fighting for your Mum. I was extremely close to my parents and did exactly the same for both of them, your Mum will be so grateful to you for doing this for her like my parents were very grateful to me. You will get good advice on the phone tomorrow. Take care. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
