My husband went back to Kings yesterday for check up and all is looking good. The bile duct stent seems to have done the trick and he doesn't have to go back to Kings for another 6 weeks, then he will be passed over to Southmead hospital in Bristol for most of his checks. Meds - down to 5mg Prednisolone, 900mg Valgaciclovir until end of course, an AdCal and he seems stable on 6mg Advagraf. Nothing compared to the pretransplant pile of pills he had to take and soon it will be just the Tacs and vitamin.
He was told he can drive from the end of the month - so I presume that means taking out bins and moving the hoover too? Ha!
Also he will be able to make his next trip to London on public transport rather than the nightmare NHS (although it is actually a private company which is probably the problem) transport. Yesterday they turned up an and hour and a half late, in a 'transit van', took the wrong route and he was half an hour late to hospital and I had to phone to make sure the doctors didn't leave before he was seen. Funnily enough his usually very low blood pressure was considerably higher than usual! A couple of accidents on the M4 and it was an 11 hour round trip. I never before thought of National Express looking like the luxury alternative, but in this case I think it probably is :-D.
Anyway it is all too easy to forget to put the positive days down, but all is looking good at the moment.

Hi multi, I'm pleased that your hubby has had such good news. Also good that he's not on so many tablets as pre transplant and hopefully some he's on now will decrease over the next few months. I was told not to lift a kettle for 3 months ( and I took it that they meant a full kettle) and not to hoover for 6 months . (for some reason my wife found this amusing ) Wishing you both all the best for the future. Alf
Honestly it's true. I was told to wait 6 months before I used a hoover. Wife laughed. We've been married forever but I would have had to search the house to find out where the hoover was kept I know now though and I am proud to report that I hoovered the conservatory today
You got it wrong, its at least 10 years before you can use the hoover and 35 years before you are allowed to fill / empty the dishwasher or use a washing machine. The bins are a permanent no touching, moving or emptying.
I was told exactly the same - no hoovering for 6 months. I was told it at least twice! Oh yes and no carrying shopping from supermarket. I didn’t listen and see what I’ve done to myself ☹️👎🏻.

Great stuff multi - after only 6 weeks he can wait for 6 weeks before going back again! Wowee! 😁👍.
At QEHB I had to go back every week for about 10 weeks. Then it was every two weeks for a couple of months and so on until after 6 months I now only have to go every 3 months 👍.
Your husband must be super fit - good man 😁👍.
Also driving so soon- he obviously didn’t have to hand his licence into DVLA otherwise it might have been 9 months post TP - well it was for me! ☹️👎🏻.

Hi my husband 3 months and doing amazing. He’s still on 5 in the morning 5 in the evening adport anti rejection tablets. And steroids. Does that eventually reduce? He’s in 2 week check ups. He’s so desperate to go to our place in Spain. Does he have to wait 6 months for that.
