Scans

Last week I got my 6 monthly MRI date through. Today I got my yearly CT scan appointment.

There is 11 hours between the scans. One is at 8am the other at 7pm. Surely there must be a better way of scheduling scans.

Just curious can you have them the same day due to the contrast?

I only have mri with contrast..CT is usually done without.

I'm aware of the pressures in the NHS but I'm not willing to hang around for 10 hours inbetween appointments. I will just have to take another day off work and reschedule it for another day.

Totally understand the not wanting to hang around thing. I think maybe they thought they were being helpful putting them on the same day. I only say this because some people have to travel a long way for their scans and actually want to get it all done on one day. Maybe you could get them to bring the later one forward if you phone the appointment line, unless of course you've tried that already? Best of luck.

Yes I do have to travel a fair distance and my 3 appointments are always on the same day..but usually with a 2 hour at most wait in between.

I have tried calling but no answer..will cancel the CT scan as that's the least important of the 2.

Hi

Lucky you if you can reschedule. Usually for me if I asked for that it would be delayed severely. From then on I just went when told.

But good luck to you - maybe I am just not forthright enough 😁

Yes I will see if they can rearrange it..maybe they can reschedule both scans for the same day..Im not bothered about the clinic appointment so will cancel that and some one who needs it can have it.

Yes I've noticed how bad things have got in the NHS lately. When I was first diagnosed 10 years ago it was very different.

I got my appointment with the hepatologist after a 24 week wait. It was at 1.30 and I was having a gastroscopy at 2pm. I rang and explained that I would rearrange the gastroscopy for another date but I was told that the gastroenterologist was performing the gastroscopy and he wanted it done asap. The hospital was brilliant and swopped my gastroscopy for 4pm so I could make both appointments. Hopefully they can do something similar for you.

You seem to be luckier than me to get one at all but good luck

Have had open MRI in Harley St many times. Quick and efficient and you take CD away with you and written report to your Dr follows soon.

Only snag is that CD is encoded and some NHS drs have a problem getting it decoded. And buggers won’t copy you the Report, only your dr can do this.
