Hello all, has anybody here, after being diagnosed with Cirrhosis, had any problems with their prostate gland. It's been just over 2 yrs now that i was diagnosed with Cirrhosis, stopped drinking, smoking and was taken off all medication by the doctors after a year, and recently did all the blood tests that resulted in all being stable and if not better than 6 months ago but slowly my PSA has risen to 10.5 !! Very high, consequently am in for the 'Up the proverbial' biopsy 'oooch' !! Thanks for any replies and I wish all well.

Hey robhood . Prostate wouldnt likely be related at all. They have done some studies that link the development of liver disease with prostate cancer. Nothing of the reverse where liver disease is causing prostate problems. Get the tests done and sorted. ( You know the drill 🙂) . Wanted to say congrats on your last 2 years success. I love reading stories like yours. 2 years later and you just keep improving. Fantastic my brother!! Keep us posted about the prostate. It's a good thing to look at anways as men because prostate issues are so easily treated in early stages if that is the case. Good luck and again congrats!

Thxs Phoenix, will keep it all posted

No problem at all. Curious as to what kind of axe you are wielding in your profile picture? The headstock is missing in the picture and it made me wonder. I'm a life long guitarist myself.

Hi Phoenix, that one is a Taylor 810CE..stolen some yrs ago by some idiot who more than likely sold it for a 'Dose'..broke me up bad...i also use a Martin D28 1954 !! what a sound it's got !!.Music as well as my children saved my life and eased the 'Battle' of desperation giving up...Music can heal us...!! At least can help enormously !!

Oh that's such a sad story about the guitar. Of all my gear I have sold or traded I would never sell my guitars they are my babies. And to have one stolen= pure heart break.

Music is definately a healing entity. It has gotten me through some dark times no doubt.

A '54 Martin . Oooo baby that must sound like a dream!

Hi Phoenix. I feel the same way about my guitars. I sold a beautiful Maton semi acoustic way back in the seventies and I'm still mourning it. SOB!!

Oh I can imagine! 😣

I've been dying to get my hands on a Maton Messiah myself. They dont stock them here on Canada but O had the chance to use one on a recording I did and oh what a treat it was 🤗

There is a small town here in Lincolnshire where there is an antique shop/2nd hand guitar shop. Hundreds of real quality guitars. He hires them out to top names as well as sells. Upstairs he has a guitar museum. to see it you have to give a donation to cancer research. There are guitars in there once owned by top groupsl like The Stones, the Beatles and many ,many more. I was having a strum on one in there that he had hired out to Stevie Winwood a couple of days before. I could sleep in that shop!! My wife says that she could sleep in the antique part. It's full of genuine real quality antiques. The man running it is a great chap. When I was at my worst and to weak after walking to get upstairs to the museum he took me through to his apartment where he had a stair lift and let me go up and down that way. I'm off there again soon (first time post transplant) can't wait!

Oh I'd love to walk in there and look around for a few hours! It will be so nice for you to get back in there now that your back on your feet again. I'm planning to hopefully make a trip to the UK in the next year. I'll have to make it a for sure stop on my travels!

Your prostate problem is unlikely to have anything directly to do with the cirrhosis. It is possible however that the cirrhosis altered hormonal levels in your body e.g. lowered your testosterone level & this might have affected the PSA score.

My prostate started to become enlarged to the point where in my early 40s I started having difficulty urinating. As my prostate enlarged my PSA level rose but nowhere near as high as your score. I had a biopsy of the prostate done under general anaesthetic & the enlargement was found to be benign and I recovered quickly without any discomfort.

After laser surgery to bore out the centre of my prostate my PSA level dropped markedly. Around 8 years later the procedure had to be redone because the prostate continued to enlarge. I chose the laser surgery method of boring out the prostate over the traditional TURPS procedure because TURPS is much more invasive & requires a much longer recovery period although it is probably more effective than the gentler laser surgery technique. Most urologists these days offer the laser surgery as an option for treating benign enlargement.

In your case if the rise in PSA is due to cancer that changes things. Watchful waiting is one option as prostate cancer is often slow to develop & most men die of something else. You might find the following link useful:
