The district nurse called today to change my dressings .I'm just over 2 months post liver transplant now and my op wounds have been stubborn to heal. There has only been a tiny amount of bleeding under the dressings this time so I'm nearly there. I'm hoping that when she comes again on Friday that I won't have to wear dressings anymore and I can start to get more mobile and that will help my wasted muscles. Onward and upward........

I’m glad you’re finally healing. A healthy varied diet to help the process and a bit further on a little bit of light exercise and you’ll feel more normal. Knackered, but happily so. Keep up the good work

I had my transplant in Archet2 Hospital Nice France in March 2014, had the wound covered for the first week then they went over to a spray on dressing, within 6 weeks the wound had healed, I was very impressed with the care there, back in England since 2016 and under Kings College London, and to be honest treated like a Non person, cannot believe their attitude, hey ho such is life, as for weakness, the strength comes back eventually I can promise you.

Think I could benefit from a spray of that stuff. Having said that I'm not too far of healed now. Sorry that you weren't treated too well at Kings. I've got to say that my treatment and care from the Addenbrookes transplant team has been 1st class. All the best for the future Jumbot. Alfred.

King's have been fantastic for me (with a couple of small exceptions) since I started seeing one of the consultants back in 2016 also. Had my transplant and naturally aftercare there too. Maybe you just happened to come across a few bad apples?

Im on Certican Everolimus, made in the UK, and used by Archet 2 Hospital Nice, Kings are the only hospital capable of testing the levels, so it was an eight hour day for a 15min blood test, everytime I went they had lost my notes, so we had to start over, I now have my bloods taken in Southampton and they send it to Kings, the liver doc in southampton will only write my script if this takes place, I'm happy this way, Advrograf was putting to much strain on my kidneys

Did anyone experience weird dreams after the op? the anesthetic was not kind to me

That question was asked about a month ago and most of us had had weird dreams and a few of us thought that we had passed over to the other side momentarily after waking from drugged sleep. Think it's quite common.

This may seem wrong but I was in a place that bought immeasurable piece with my Grandmother, I found recently whilst watching tv the Chinese stairway to heaven, that is where I was, I have never seen or heard of the place before the transplant, I was extremely moved. One dream I had was there was no oxygen on the surface of the planet everyone lived underground, and I was inventing the square wheel??

Just re-read this and had to laugh. Wondered where the hell the square wheel was going to go when you were living underground? Maybe eventually a window frame to look through to see the surface! lol.

Yes, the dreams I mentioned that myself and others on here had were very calm and peaceful, not a bit scary.

My wound healed up fine following on from my transplant in QEHB in 2013.

Since that day apart from getting my prograff levels right i have not had one issue relating to the transplant. I now only go back to Birmingham every 5 months.

It will heal soon enough, I was lucky to have a degree of youth on my side so my dressing came off within the week of my operation, the scabs had mostly gone in the first month, the couple of drain holes took a little while longer. My scar amazes me how neat it is, looks like I was stuck back together, I was careful I’m not overdoing it and slowly increasing movement and now a year later I can bounce around like tigger! Remember it’s a journey not a race 😉

Thanks for the reply Dulux. Strangely enough my drain holes healed up in no time at all and the same with my verticle scar line. It's the horizontal that is being stubborn and just a small section of it having bleeds in 2 places. It's very slowly getting less (9 weeks today post transplant!). I feel absolutely great within myself as new liver is working fine. I just need to seal up my wounds and shake off my backache. It's pretty bad and I'm still having to have strong pain killing meds ( which worries me as I don't want to harm my new liver) . In the past I have worked through broken ribs and broken toes with no time off at all so I know that I have a high pain threshold.
