Can elevated liver enzymes be ‘normal?’

My liver enzymes have been picked up as elevated many times: up to a couple of hundred. They usually get picked up when looking for something else, and then monitored to see they drop. I was treated with methotrexate and the ALT rocketed to 950 and I was admitted to hospital. It then began to drop and that was the end of it again. Had another blood test for something else and surprise surprise they’re all high again. As they fall again it keeps getting brushed off but is this normal?
