Great News!

I have been an extremely heavy drinker often drinking a litre of spirits in one day. My driving licence was refused last year following a period of dependant drinking. I had a blood test on the 29/12/2017 which came back with a GGT of 634. i stopped drinking and took elite liver capsules and pints of water, another blood test on the 29th January GGT had dropped to 221. Driving Licence has now been returned and a Fibroscan yesterday showed no scarring or Fibrosis

Good news. What are elite liver capsules?

Thats what they are called, bought them from amazon to promote liver function and well being, very good reviews so got them myself and have really made the difference!

I googled it, I’ll see if the are available in the states. Sounds like they really improved your numbers.

I couldn't believe the difference a reduction of over 400 in 4 weeks!, Feel much better in myself as well

Do you think the drop in ggt was due to stopping the drink vs the capsules?

I think it was a combination of both, I believe that it would not have had such a radical reduction due to pure abstinence

My brother who's a heavy drinker, after a trip to Australia via Thailand had a GGT of over 1000 . After 6 weeks of abstainece all his LFTs were back to normal. Don't underestimate what abstainence alone can achieve.

I think it only fair to point out to others that there is no medical information about these capsules, they have never been medically tested and the only results this company can offer are as they say, from customers comments. These could of course could be totally false and spurious. When I damaged my liver, the last thing I wanted to do was to take anything that would cause anymore damage. I would read all other prescribed medication leaflets for side effects just to make sure it did cause liver damage.

I certainly wouldn't risk buying any tablet from a London back street (20-22 Wenlock Road, London, LS10 4GN) without consulting a liver specialist. While I commend ducati on his recovery. I don't think it's fare to give out possible false hopes to others. When I was a kid, there used to be a product called Andrews Liver Salts (you can still buy it today) it was used for upset stomachs and hangovers. Because is had the word LIVER in the title, people assumed it would be good for the liver. But this didn't do anything to the liver.

I certainly wouldn't waste £15.87 on something that hadn't been tested or trialled. It would be like going out and kissing a load of frogs just on the off chance one of them will turn into a prince.

I totally agree

I love the frog analogy. Really made me laugh and a very accurate way of putting it. :)

It looks like you made a sensible decision to give up the grog. Looks like you've avoided any lasting damage so far.

In terms of the effectiveness of the pills though, perhaps the following will shed some light on the issue:

pubs.niaaa.nih.gov/publicat...

The half life of GGT is between 14 and 26 days in heavy drinkers, with the time taken to return to normal after complete abstinence being around 2 - 6 weeks.

So your GGT reduction looks to be roughly in line with what would be expected to occur naturally.

I wouldn’t take any “magic cures “ you don’t know what is actually in these tablets. Your GGT would have dropped like that just by stopping the booze! I have end stage liver liver disease and my GGT reverted to normal in 3months! Please don’t encourage others to take these tablets as without help from your doctor or pharmacist as you have no idea how they might react with your prescribed medication. My advice is NEVER BUY Medication on line!

Try not taking them and see how you feel. Good Luck

I would suggest that you think about your drinking habits and how it may be affecting you overall and not just your ability to drive.

ducati,

This is really good news for anyone believing that a 'problem liver' cannot be returned to good health.

Sorry if it seems harsh people going on about you taking 'Elite liver capsules' but they do have a point.

The British Liver Trust have advice for anyone considering alternative medicines / supplement.

Keep up the good work.

It would be safe to say it’s got nothing to do with magic pills but the fact that you did the best thing possible in stopping drinking and taking in plenty of water, that’s the magic

Glad your feeling better and hope you keep your licence

Jim, thanks for posting that article. I've said in posts on this or the Pbc site virtually all the points raised in that article. However I didn't have any stats, and didn't know of the evidence regarding drug induced liver injury and HCC. I really hope people think twice before putting their livers through more stress.

Best wishes

I was just wondering who recommended 'Elite Live Tonic' to you. I've just bought some from Amazon but have no idea if they'll help. I also take Milk Thistle and Artichoke hearts (in capsule form) ..
