Craving a drink and it’s not alcoholic!

I am on permanent fluid restriction of a litre to 1.5 litres per day. This time of year when everyone is drinking all I crave is unrestricted cold water! My favourite tipple is ice cold lime and soda. Anyone else got a favourite after giving up alcohol?

I’m 16 months dry BTW. I’m stage 4 and haven’t got on the list yet!

Merry Xmas and a lucky new year

Andy

Hi andy , well done on your sobriety! I too am stage 4, on no transplant list as my liver is holding up so far. Your drink sounds lovely! I must give that a try.

I have freshly squeezed lemon in ice water in a jug kept in the fridge.i prepare it each morning . I dont drink as much as i should really , but i will be treating myself to a hot chocolate with marshmallows and whipped cream xmas eve 😋. Other than that its sugar free mineral fruit flavour water.. merry Christmas 🎅🎅. Have a good one ... linda

Oh I would of loved to have been on your restriction I was on 500ml for months and my favourite thing was ice I couldn't get enough of it but sadly not allowed now I am post transplant x and congratulations on your soberity x

500ml would be tough. Shame ice lols are liquid too and soup!

Hope things are going well after transplant. I’m still trying to improve my anaerobic threshold to be listed. I’m UKELD 64 and the muscle wastage is making the fitness test ever harder!

Merry Xmas x

Hi Jojo I am too on the list to be transplanted but have not been told to stop doing this. What do you do Instead and what were their reasons for telling you to stop this?

Robinson's Orange and Passion fruit, Morrison's Cloudy Lemonade and, for a while, Cherry Coke.(Too expensive by the gallon, lol, and the sugar content- WOW!) All the best.

I'm with you Andy, ice cold lime and soda and good quality coffee. I'm almost a year without the dreaded drink, and I don't miss it at all, in fact the reverse as I feel much better without it. David

Some good ideas for drinks there.

Well done on nearly a year sober. This is the first time I’ve thought of drinking and a glass of wine doesn’t appeal. A glass of real ale would be good but I know it wouldn’t stop there and my liver would hate it.

Jojo did you have protein drinks? I have 3 a day and that depletes my fluid allowance!

I am too on a strict liquid diet of 1.5 Litres of fluids per day due to Ascittis from stage 4 Chorrohiss. I constantly crave cold water and hot tea from my mouth being dry all the time because I believe from the medications I am on. My solution was to buy a ice making machine and fill my cup up with ice cubes when I get thirsty I just suck on a few ice cubes taking away my thirst. I bought a thermal cup and keep it filled at all times and I never go out without it. For quite awhile I would just buy bags of ice and hammer it to break it up but finally decided I was financially better off investing in the ice machine as well as the convenience of it. Just my solution maybe other people have more. Good Luck!!!

Hi

I enjoy sparkling water with orange or any citrus fruit.

I've got Nash with fibrosis, my consultant wants me to have an mrcp at the end of January before I see him on the 1st Feb when he is deciding what he wants to do. He was going to admit me a few weeks ago but changed his mind until I've had the scan.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas. Please take care. Lots of love Lynne xxxx
