Bleeding in mouth but not varice bleed

Has anyone had blood just come in their mouth..quite a lot of it ? Not vomiting...this happenedto me last week and then twice same day. I went to A and E as had a varice bleed last year. After a lot of meds, and being admitted, my consultant performed an endoscopy even though he said my varices are only at grade one now..and he found nothing amiss, no Problems in blood tests .....so I came home after just two days . I have PBC stage 4.

Is it your gums at the back? Maybe a trip to the dentist as I suffered loads with my teeth and gums pre transplant

Thanks...I thought maybe teeth or ulcer or sneezing too hard.

Forgot to say, it tasted metallic and when I looked there was blood all over the inside of my mouth. It happened twice more the same day but less. Bright red and slightly fizzy looking

It does taste metallic anyway but like I said I would definitely get checked out by the dentist I have lost all my top teeth through liver disease and now have a platelet

Went to the dentist, thorough check, all fine. No-one can understand where it all came from..must have been a small vein somewhere near mouth or inside nose area.....

Have you had your Platelets checked? I tasted blood, metallic tastes, bruising. Diagnosed with ITP then-my count was 8000. This year dx with Alpha1 Antitrypsin Deficiency.

Yes they are slightly on low side but not too bad..no indication where blood came from so its a mystery!

I have had this problem (heavy bleeding from mouth on waking up) and it has largely been ignored by all the doctors I’ve seen recently. It is still happening occasionally. I never attributed it to the liver although I have NASH with very high GGTs (usually between 1000 and 2000). However, I have Type 2 Diabetes, on insulin 4x day. I take Warfarin for recurring DVTs and PEs, I also have arthritis with severe mobility issues and degeneration in most of my joints. My liver problem has always taken a back seat until now, when I’m beginning to worry it may be cause of some of my problems. Perhaps Bobbycat you need a full MOT, like me but getting such a thing on NHS is nigh on impossible when they only deal with the most pressing issue. Good luck anyway.

Thanks....had lots of tests before this but it could be something undiscovered.....you have had quite a few issues, I know joint pain is one of my liver problem with PBC. All the best
