hi I got biliary liver cirrhosis I'm in a lot of pain and itching I'm on medication but nothing is seem to be working . dr said I might have to go on transplant list .has anyone got the same

I've got nafld and cirrhosis so I'm in a different position as far as I am aware, than you at the moment. I'm still at the pain cushion stage of having more tests done on me. I really hope things go well for you. There are some great people on the site who you will no doubt be hearing from.

I was interested in you mentioning the itching. I'm finding that my skin seems to be drying out very quickly and is quite itchy. I'll be honest I'm not sure if that is my age or a stage in my liver/ spinal cord saga. I guess it is very different to you.

I've had itching for a few years and at worse I look like I've been thrashed with a branch and I never know where it's going to erupt but doc said it was hives type thing I end up with lines and all sorts but I'm weird x

Sounds like you have what is known as Primary Biliary Cholangitis or PBC (formerly known as Primary Biliary Cirrhosis). It may have already have lead to the liver becoming damaged and now presenting a cirrhosis. We have several members of the forum with PBC and hopefully some of them will pop up soon for a chat - a few of our members who have PBC have also recently had transplants after long periods of illness.

the itching--- try taking anti-histomine tablets, lidl sell the cheapest-- they do 2 types in lidl--1 type in a red box and one in a green --89p a pack/box--follow instructions --allow at least a week for releif (assuming they work for you--they did for me!)------you can buy piriton anywhere but it costs much more

according to dr al- zamma liver specialist at the rbh it's ok to take anti-histomine, i checked before-hand

hope it works for you lynne- the normal one from the pharmacy worked for me-- i don't need it anymore as my liver is much improved---AVOID SALT!--no ready meal's,most are full of it-- even minced meat has 6 % added--beef steak is no problem ,i ate it every day for months, (the cheap stuff) i,m sure it helped build my body back upto strength--btw i had 30 visits to hosp over about one year to drain fluid and some long stays for serious infection----andy

hi there, it sounds exactly like what my husband had - he was diagnosed with PSC many years ago and received a liver transplant in 2019.

All was going well but the condition has returned and is attacking his transplanted organ.

Have a google at PSC. Xx
