You really shouldn't be taking yourself of any medication which has been prescribed without talking to your doctor. As far as I know antidepressants don't have much effect on your liver, if you are that concerned about it then speak to a professional you can get withdrawal symptoms taking yourself of them that's why they are tapered

Hi,

We would suggest that people do not come off prescribed medications without speaking first to a GP and getting their advice.

If you are concerned about the effects of medications on your liver, you can discuss this with your GP and/ or liver specialist. They may be able to prescribe you alternative medications.

Best wishes,

Hi there ; as both jojo and admin stated it really is not a good idea to come off them.I have been and still am on antidepressants a year now .I thought the same way as you but my dr will not take me off them just yet .speak to your doctor about your concerns first .to be honest I could not get through what I have done without them .

I wouldn't I would ring your consultants secretary and seek guidance or just see your GP, I still take Diazepam as when I tried to drastically reduce it or indeed when a doctor cut it back it caused havoc...

I have sought clarification on many things that worried me including chasing why I was still on high dose steroids after more than 5 weeks back in Feb/March and it's worth doing as in that instance the consultant hadn't realised and got me off them on a fast taper..

they will guide you... or they certainly should!

Take care,
