Your friend should definitely ask this of his liver doctor.

If he has cirrhosis and is perhaps taking a beta-blocker to treat portal hypertension (i.e. carvedilol or propanolol) there seems to be warning about not taking these together with viagra. Also, I don't know whether any of the chaps on here have tried it but I know with my hubby it isn't just the sexual function that has gone due to his cirrhosis (ok viagra might return that) but he just has no sexual interest at all and viagra wouldn't stimulate libido just possibly aid the erectile disfunction element of having cirrhosis and the hormonal imbalance situation it creates.

Your friend should ask his doctor to be safe.

As Katie says he needs to contact his liver doctor, as well as his GP. Viagra is prescription only so he will need to speak to his GP, also advise him not to take those from internet as god only knows what is in them and they may do

Hi,

We would definitely advise your friend to discuss all medications with his own doctors who have access to his medical records, and liver function information.

They are best placed to advise what medications he can safely take.

Warm wishes,

Rebecca

Viagra is contraindicated in severe liver dysfunction. I think cirrhosis is not a mild disorder.
