What was your diagnosis LuckyLips? Many liver conditions can now be treated either with medications, new treatments etc. or by amending diets and lifestyles and depending on your age and overall health their might be the opportunity for transplant.

I totally acknowledge that some of the tests you have to endure with liver disease are awful, i've spent 5 years with my husband driving him like a condemned man to numerous tests and procedures BUT without them and certainly without the banding he's had through the rather unpleasant endoscopies he's endured he wouldn't be alive today.

He was diagnosed in April 2012 with cirrhosis due to burned out auto-immune hepatitis, his condition can't be treated as the damage is done, however, we make the most of good days and live life the best we can. He sees consultants at local hospital and also the transplant unit in Edinburgh and has every test and procedure they deem necessary and we hope that by doing so they are keeping a very close eye on him and if his health significantly deteriorates he might get the chance of transplant (he was previously assessed and listed for 10 months before being delisted after his blood results improved).

If you arn't having any tests or follow up you might find your health deteriorates significantly and it might be too late to step in and provide treatment. We've a lovely lady posting on here just now who was discharged without follow up from her medical team and now 9 years later finds herself with late stage cirrhosis and doctors are now trying to play catch up BUT with proper monitoring and treatment earlier on it might not have gotten that serious.

At the end of the day it is your life and your health but I wouldn't give up on it.

All the best, Katie x

You don't tell us what you mean by liver scarring so we can't hazard a guess.

To have this discovered 5 years ago and needing a biopsy I completely fail to see how you aren't on the list of a hepatologist to be honest.

I would speak to your go as he/she would know what you mean
