Has anyone here had Intermittent in the ears which affects balance and makes you feel remote? Thanks. I'm new here caring for someone with cirrhosis of the liver.

I don't know if I've always had it and I'm just picking up every flaw now or if it's new but I get ringing in my ears

Hello,

The times when I've had those experiences have been when extremely stressed. I now know ringing in the ears is actually be a known symptom of stress. The 'remote' feeling I now accept as a symptom of my depression.

I am not attempting to diagnose anything, just telling you about my experience.

The only relief was to stop and try to work out what was in my life that was causing me to have those feelings.

Sadly, previously the relief for the stress was through alcohol. Definitely not the best problem solver, especially as its that which eventually caused my liver to fail.

My life is now very different as following a transplant, the liver disease is a thing of the past and I solve my problems in other less destructive ways

Obviously, I don't know the nature of your friends cirrhosis, but any disease as debilitating as liver disease is bound to cause stresses and possible depression, so its certainly something worth considering.

They really need to inform their GP / consultant of these symptom as they may be important in helping them to give the most appropriate care / treatment.

I hope this is of some help to you.

Take care,

Jim
