Cirrhosis...it' a pain in the neck

Hello everyone! I was diagnosed with cirrhosis about 2 1/2 months ago. No symptoms really. I had a CT scan and an ultra sound. Several weeks ago I had an endoscopy. No varices or ascites. Maybe I have been a little tired. Mostly I feel pretty good though. Most of my blood tests came back with high numbers. They haven't really gotten to the bottom of what is causing the cirrhosis. In my heart I'm pretty sure I just liked wine too much. Honestly, it seems like if I am as sick as they say I am I would not be feeling well. My husband was diagnosed with a fatty liver and it seems like he has way less energy than me. I don't get it. I have completely eliminated the wine, stick to a good diet and work out most days. Do you think this will improve my liver health ? And will I have more energy or is that just something that never goes away?

I am really happy to have found this website. I would appreciate any helpful advice. Thanks

--Pam

In my experience of fatigue/tiredness there's not a great deal you can do to feel better, however as soon as you over do it I feel worse. Doesn't matter how much I sleep. How much I rest. How much I take it easy. It's the same exhaustion. I've tried coffee. I've tried energy drinks. No good. The only thing I've found that gives some improvement is eating lots of protein and carbs. And of course lots of Haribo 😜

If you have been diagnosed with cirrhosis then they will probably do a biopsy on your liver next to try and find out the cause and it could be a number of reasons as to why. I felt exactly like you are saying and that was before I was diagnosed it was reason I went to my gp, glad to hear you have stopped drinking and also great news you don't have varices or ascites, just change your diet, less salt and fresh home made food and I mean sauces and soups you be surprised at how much is hidden x. Your partner has to do the same and give up drinking, it's an amazing organ the liver and it is possible for it to re-generate itself if looked after properly. X

My husband isn't much of a drinker so that's no problem. I have to admit I'm terrified about the biopsy though. Afraid of the truth I guess. I do try to stay to a good diet.

Thanks for your reply.
