Hard to say exactly how much it is working but it's safe to say that it has to be not working enough to cause a whole bunch of symptoms like jaundice and ascites for example.

Good morning,

As with a lot of people here, I was mostly blissfully unaware how really ill I was. Its normally those closest who see the decline and true state of health. Mine was Alcohol Related Liver Disease.

When my consultant on his round said the 'transplant' word, I thought I had misheard and called my partner to say so. She came in immediately and got the consultant to return.

He then said that my liver had shown no sign of regeneration or recovery after months of treatment and no alcohol. Then we were told that my liver was operating on roughly 7% of normal function / capacity.

Have to confess that I found this hard to believe and difficult to understand how I was still alive.

The rest is history, a very rapid decline followed by a transplant in March 2017. Now fitter and more positive than I have been for as long as I can remember.

Everyone is different, as are Tx doctors and also they don't only look at that. They have to factor in any illness associated with it also. It's alllll subjective. Check with your specialist. We are not doctors! Lol

Cheering you on!

I understand the liver can function on as little as 10%, I was put on transplant list as life expectancy was 3 months, I had 3 calls to hospital but donner livers not of a good standard, during that time I went from de-compensated to compensated and taken off transplant list.I was told that an operation carries it's own risk's and better of not having transplant.
