Alt and creatinine high?

Dear All,

My son had some tests 6 weeks ago and repeated these again... They have come back as high again:

Alt 115

Creatinine 105

All other tests are well in range... We have an appointment on Friday - the GP will look at referring to a specialist and I'm hoping he is sent to the same team who have been watching over my husband.

Am super worried so any advice will be really appreciated...

hi pear shaped .well I personally don't think it's the liver as all the other results have come back ok .I would not try to worry about things as neither of you know what's causing it .it can be due to medication and even diabetes. hope all turns out OK

Dear Millie,

Thank you for your support. I do hope it is nothing too serious.

My ALT was 285 and AST 128 when I was diagnosed with Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease. My creatinine was also high but not super high, just slightly over the limit. After losing about 100 pounds (went from 285 pounds to 180 pounds), my ALT dropped to 49 and my AST to 15. My creatinine also dropped to normal levels. Eating right, losing weight, and exercising really helped get my numbers lower. Unfortunately, I still have gallbladder issues from gallstones so my doctors will probably be removing the gallbladder in the next few weeks before the problems get worse. Best of luck to you and your son!

Dear Paul,

The GP wants to check his liver area and then refer him for further tests. As all other markers are in range - considering his high BMI it is definitely impacting on the liver so pointing towards NAFLD...

Thank you so much for sharing all this information as it has reassured me that it's likely to be this than anything too detrimental.

Yours truly,

Pear

Hello Carllovatt,

I am not sure what you mean by your comment - it could be just me as I am not so literate in the art of text/social media speak. Please can you be more clear....

Dear All,

GP has decided to send him for a scan and will then take things from there.

His weight hasn't gone down significantly but hasn't gone up either.

As he is also Autistic - he takes things said by doc pretty seriously so hopefully will make the changes needed.

Thank you for all your support.

Yours truly,

Pear
