i was just wondering if cirrhosis has a remmission period where you feel fine for weeks and the it gets worse. even with no drinking and does that mean that the fibrosis is still growing. i am at stage 4 ald and have periods of this.

Yes it does, my experience. The liver can go from almost not functioning to functioning on a high level. Often rest and a better diet brings on a less stressful state for the liver. As it worsens though these time frames change and it is harder to get the liver to function. Good luck and do enjoy it when your liver enters a period of easier functioning. Aloha

Hi jjeff , I have had Cirrosis 8 nearly 9 yrs now . At first diagnosis I was given 6 months to live , I was dry poorly . Mine was through drink after a bad abusive marriage . Anyway I'm. Still here thank good , stopping alcohol is one of the big ones especially if that was the main cause of it . I had my last LFT three weeks ago and it's still working perfect ! I changed my diet , to organic foods , I have a lot of gluten free food , low salt diet etc so yes the liver can get better again but for how long I don't know Best wishes .. Linda 🎄🎄

I have lived in liver failure for 5 years so I think you both are going to be around awhile. I am feeling a wee bit better and I have been bed bound for five weeks. I still hope for my liver to pick me up and get me back into my life. Aloha

I think you have done amazing with what you have had to deal with Health wise . I really hope and pray your liver gives you a good kick start 👍.. You have given it a good 5 weeks rest now . I have every faith that you will be back to some normality very soon . Aloah

Hi Millie

Interested in your reply as I have made changes to my husband's diet , he was diagnosed with cirrohsis 7 years ago , switched to a vegetarian low salt diet and also thinking about using gluten free products . Also try and buy organic produce 😊

Hi lighthouse,

I found out when i was on a gluten free diet i looked and felt so much better!

I did however go back to normal bread etc.. due to the cost of things but i started to feel bloated and put on weight. So now i have cut the bread out completely, i have brown rice, not white. All my meat products are from the quorn range as you know is full of protein and low saturated fat. I have not comr across any forums but that is not to say There is not any.. but i did feel so much better without gluten.

Hi All

I am grappling with NAFLD - biopsy next week :( - agree with sentiments re diet - sugar and refined carbs can have devastating results on health. Indeed liver failure and transplants from Non alcoholic liver and obesity are reckoned to surpass alcoholic fatty liver cases.

I hope I have caught it before its too late for reversal of fibrosis ( last year scan of 8.6)

Weight loss taking on a whole new urgency now

Sorry to hear that , my liver is already in fibrosis , has Been 8 yrs now , but you can stop the disease and slow it down . Well that's what I was told .. Good luck on your biopsy . Try not to worry .. Regards Linda
