ive just done that for you and ive found out it's caused by CELIAC disease - cut out the glutens - im sure your liver is fine if youve stopped drinking -

Er .... I don't mean to rain on your parade here - and I hope this doesn't come across as rude but you can't diagnose celiac disease this way, and you certainly can't prescribe a gluten free diet on the basis of one line possibly complaining of "feeling hungover".

There is a specific protocol for diagnosis of celiac disease which involves doctors, blood tests and endoscopic biopsy.

Cheers.

Sorry MrX for haphazarding foolish possibly flippant answers to questions !.........I guess it's just my way of coping with grief! ( behaving silly!)

Of course i'm sure acgb007 wouldn't just take my word for it and i've followed some of his previous posts and I know he knows all about his liver disease already..........

It's fine honestly. I'm nowhere near as earnest as I might come across. Life's pretty absurd when you look at it so I'm happy to embrace silliness - it's usually a force for good.

I didn't mean to sound so abrupt but it was late. I meant that coeliac disease is a pretty serious diagnosis and has to be made properly as it has a lot of implications.

Cheers!

Thank you MisterX

No worries! and i've very much liked a lot of your good posts in the past - especially the ones about the special blue something 'glasses' that help to induce sleepiness. Never did get them though.......so many regrets...... unfortunately reversal of sleeping patterns is from what i have gathered all part and parcel of the liver disease.

Thank you MisterX

That's very kind of you.

I can still recommend them though - you can get them on Amazon although they'll take a while to turn up. They're called Uvex Skyper 1933 and they're about £10.

Reversal of sleeping patterns is a common symptom of cirrhosis but I'm not sure everyone gets it. I've always wanted to stay up late and get up later - not sure why really - so I've not seen any change post diagnosis - in my case I'm pretty sure it's just my bad habits.

I do recommend the glasses though. They make you look silly but work well I think.

Cheers!

No, but that's strange because I had exactly the same feeling of being hungover every morning about 8 years ago went on for almost a year until a chance blood test showed up Coeliac disease!

Oh joy, one more disease to add to the collection!

You'd need to talk to your doctor.

The liver affects a lot of things so once you have liver disease you can pretty much associate a lot of symptoms with having the liver disease, so you'll probably find someone with liver disease who says they sometimes feel like they have a hangover.

You can't do it the other way around though - i.e.randomly pick odd symptoms and then diagnose liver disease from them, because once you have a symptom - like feeling hungover - there are any number of complaints that could be associated with. A doctor will take your feeling of being hungover and then use his/her medical training to diagnose what the problem may be and the cause and eliminate alternatives. That's the bit that takes 6 years of education and training.

Hope that helps.

Best regards.

I don't know if it is common, but I have that same feeling and I don't drink, either. I've got PBC. I felt more hungover before taking Urso. Now I feel hungover if I take more than two paracetamol in a day, even though the consultant said I could take eight.

Hope you feel better soon.

Dont go on a gluten free diet without gping to doc for blood tests first.otherwise you will vome up as negative .a gp told us to to do this with my son..

.whivh helped his symptoms but now at somepoint he has to go back on gluten then when its all flared up get a bowel biopsy....so not a good way round to do it!!!

Also when i was in my 20s i could feel hung over from a late night out with no drink i think it was my liver not coping even back then

I now have cirrhosis and varices 2 so i think it could be either ...but very easily the liver problems.p.s.im now 52.good luck but be careful of rushing into tjings.also ive been tested for caeliac and im negative although o have the feeling dredfull tjing.best wishes cazer.

Do you take any anti-d meds, sleeping tabs or sedatives? They can make you feel dopey and hung over in the morning.

Coca Cola can do it for me. I think it also dehydrates you, so sometimes after a night out on the lash (knocking back pints of Coke) I get a "coke" hangover.

MisterX in reply to RodeoJoe

If you're drinking pints of coke I'd suspect hyperglycaemia if I were you. If you overwhelm your ability to produce insulin then the excess glucose rampages around in the blood and does all sorts of horrible things - the dehydration is usually a result of the kidneys desperate attempts to flush the glucose through the system.

It's the one thing that sucks about pubs. Most of the non alcoholic options are soft drinks or fruit juices. They're pointlessly missing out on decent revenue by not offering anything else to those who can't or won't drink - it's not a small market - and non drinkers bring drinkers. And drive them home too!!

Cheers!

No, no diet coke. Not full fat, that's just about worse than drinking alcohol.

A brilliant description of liver disease!

Did u c comments below about coeliac versus liver disease...the other thing i thought of is that both these are autoimmune disorders and the common thong between them is the auto symptoms.....fatigue aching general unwell feeling!sounds familiar.i was told 16years ago that pbc patients can have transplants and still be left with auto symptoms so i would not assume coeliac but ask for blood test if positive then get biopsy to confirm BEFORE you go on gluten free diet as its expensive and difficult to exclude.having said that if its positive then you should feel a load better once gluten excluded.go and see docs.good luck cazer
