Well the bile produced by the liver (which helps digest fats) is passed from the liver via bile ducts to the gallbladder. So if the ducts get blocked by a stone, then yes I guess there is some impact on the liver.

Have you had your cholesterol levels checked. Do you watch what you eat in the way of fats?

I certainly think so. I went through five months of gb hell before I had surgery and only then did they find my gb was very inflamed and my bile duct dilated. I did not have stones, that's the reason I did not have surgery sooner. During surgery my surgeon took a biopsy of my liver, as it looked a little lighter in colour than normal, and I was eventually diagnosed with autoimmune hep. which I'm sure was caused by my gb. I'm finding it difficult to believe as I do not have any symptoms and my liver readings were all coming down nicely after surgery but apparently biopsies are very accurate so I've started treatment for aih. What symptoms do you have?

My symptoms were constant nausea, dark urine, occasional slightly high temperature, occasional shivers, discomfort and pain in liver area and going up back and I had jaundice. All my symptoms disappeared day after gb surgery. I didn't have bloated stomach or joint pains. How do you know you have low vit. D?

Glad to hear you had a good outcome,

I had a vit D blood test from the G.P came back low was given tablets, had another test some weeks later now on double the strength.

Some of your symptoms could be related to low vit. d. From my experience they are not typical gallbladder symptoms. You should eat food high in vit.d and get some sun as well. There must be a reason for your low vit.d, is your doctor doing any tests? I hope you start feeling better soon.

I had a scan which showed a fatty liver and the Gallstones.I have read that people with liver problems can also be low in certain vitamins, vit D being one of them. My Doctor has done 2blood tests but given no reason why my vitamin D is low, I do go outside as much as I can and eat healthy.

Hello,

My mum had a gall stone and later on was found to have severe liver damage. Its not always the case but considering you have yellowing eyes is a definite sign that something is not right. Do ask to be referred to a specialist.
