Most people in the Northern Hemisphere (and now people in sunny countries who use sunblock) are deficient in Vitamin D3, regardless of whether they have cirrhosis or not, so it will probably be beneficial to someone with cirrhosis to supplement provided they check with their doctor first.

I asked this question some time ago and was told that half to three quarters of an hour in the sun, exposing at least arms and face should be sufficient for those with undiseased livers. So try to double the time or take a supplement or eat food high in D3 or a combination of the three. As Bolly says, always check with your doc before taking anything they've not prescribed. If using the sun then take care not to get burnt: Don't want to increase the risk of melanoma along with the problems you've already got! Regards, Phil

Good Afternoon,

If you have cirrhosis your Vitamin D level can get low, often this can be sorted with a vitamin supplement prescribed by the doctor. I would suggest talking to your GP or Liver specialist before taking any vitamins or supplements as they will be processed by your liver and depending on your condition/ the severity of it it may not be safe.

Kind regards

Sandy
