Who was I kidding

Short and fast I said, well we got one out of two so I guess a fifty percent success rate is ok it was really short lol.

The park was nice and quiet, vibrant colours and the singing of birds. warm up walk, and we are off, not fast so maybe we can speed up after the toxic 10….. well we couldn’t, but it was fantastic to be out, the air feels amazing on arms and legs, a few people arrived, some with dogs some with children some with both and two with a remote control aeroplane which was doing some really clever flying. I speeded up, I slowed down, Willow kept pace until near the end, it all sounds a lot of effort but it wasn’t it was just a couple kilometres but we did it.

Have a great weekend whether running or not

The main things are (a) you do it and (b) you enjoy it. Sounds like 100% success to me :) Oh, and remember, there are millions of people who would think 2km was as unattainable as a marathon!!!

That’s true and I can run further, I can run faster but not for long

So true. A bit over two years ago I'd have been in that group!

Yes I believe it is meant to rain tomorrow. I think the plants are loving it though, sun, rain, and a bit of a breeze! Must make them feel alive 🌺🌳🌸!

The plants really need some rain, our garden is very dry, but the flowers are beautiful at the moment

It was a lovely day, but also here a day for slow running, not fast as it was hot already quite early in the morning!

Happy weekend!

I suppose it doesn’t really and it’s been a while since I’ve wanted to get out and run, lot of the time I was off work I couldn’t be bothered or was in pain and fed up it’s good to want to run again

That's fantastic, a great run for you both! I'm not surprised you couldn't speed up, it was so hot yesterday, I got too warm just walking the dog! 🥵🥵 isn't it just wonderful that you're able to run again 🤗👏👏👏💪

Thanks Beatles and yes of course it’s wonderful to be able to run, and I shouldn’t be impatient 😆

You got out.

Looks lovely. I keep reading, on here, "it's not about speed".

SueAppleRun profile image

I know and it’s really not about speed….. and life’s not about good looks and money either but we’d all like a little more of both wouldn’t we?

MrBassmanjazz profile image
MrBassmanjazz in reply to SueAppleRun

That's for sure. I'm consolidating, again, and my times aren't even close to what I was doing in December, but I'm making an effort to go slower and, maybe, avoid injury this this time.

And really great that we can run, I’m pleased to hear you are keeping injury free

Great run so many things to see what a joyful run. And 50% is a good pass so really well done 👏👏👏👏👏

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Scruff55

Thank you thank you, I think it’s time I tried to keep a slow steady pace instead of trying to get faster, as i can run faster for very short bursts but am not being consistent

Scruff55 profile image
Scruff5560minGraduate in reply to SueAppleRun

I only do slow. at 67 I need to stay injury free so as old floss says slow and steady is my mantra. I can then enjoy the experience too. I do do fartleks occasionally but my fast pace is most likely their slow pace but who cares I’m out running and that’s definitely better than on the IC or just the plain old couch. 🤣🏃‍♀️🤣🏃‍♀️🤣🏃‍♀️🤣

Oh out running at our age may mean we can run and walk for longer

Fab pictures! I think the main point is you sound like you enjoyed it and that to me is most important!😀🏃‍♀️

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Hedgehogs123

Yes, I doubt I’ll ever be much faster but it’s running

Hedgehogs123 profile image
Hedgehogs123Graduate10 in reply to SueAppleRun

Absolutely! Just enjoy it. I read today that people who run are less likely to develop dementia and actually it makes our bones stronger. I don't care if it's not actually true, I choose to believe it, as I'm terrified of getting dementia as my mum has Alzheimer's and we both have arthritis in our spine, but It's never stopped me dancing or running! 🤞

SueAppleRun profile image
SueAppleRunGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to Hedgehogs123

I choose to believe it too, my mum had arthritis in her knees from a younger age than I am now and it slowed her down so the longer we can ru. the better. Dementia is terrible,
