London 10,000, 2 for the price of 1

This morning I ran my second London Vitality Virtual 10,000 in a week, after my first run on Wednesday with a time of 1.11.40 my app failed to post my time so this Saturday morning I ran my second London 10,000 in a slightly slower time of 1.13.58, however, using the Mapmyrun 'change duration' time feature I changed it to Wednesdays time and got a confirmation congratulating me, of course I didn't tell them that was my second run.

Well done Al, I was wondering what happened as you didn't post on Wednesday 😁That's so frustrating ! BUT !

It's another 10k done 👍😁

AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Instructor57

On Wednesday I was so annoyed with the app that I put my Bib number which I had been running with around my waist into the first bin that I saw, this morning I ran with my Parkrun T Shirt on, I was very happy that there were no further problems. 😊 🏃🏾

Haha, I get it !Think I would have done the same !

Still, all's well that ends well .

You can have a deserved rest now 😁👍

That was my 16th 10K, my PB 10K time is 69.23 which was my 4th ran in September 2019.

A great time for you Al My vitality was my PB 10k but only 1:18:08

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Instructor57

Good time for you as well Instructor57, if you can keep getting a sub 80 minutes 10K perhaps you also could get it under 75 minutes 👍

Yes, in time maybe !Although I'm not too worried 😁

Wow, two 10ks in a week! I salute you 🙌🙌 very well done, and amazing times as well 👏👏👏

AlMorr profile image

I enjoyed my second London Vitality Virtual 10,000 this morning, the first 5K split time on Wednesday was 35.50, which I counted as my 51st not parkrun.

Brilliant.! Two 10k runs in one week ! How are your legs feeling after that?

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Week7

Yes Week7, two for the price of 1 😊👍

PS, my legs feel OK, I will still be able to walk my neighbours dog Holly this afternoon.

I think it’s really impressive that you’ve run two 10ks in one week. In fact I’d suggest it’s inspirational! Well done and who cares if you put this week’s numbers in.

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to RunBrianRun

Thanks Brian UK, as I ran two 10Ks this week, I did not think it was cheeting by putting in Wednesday's time as it was the quickest of the two runs.

A second 10k in 3 days - I take my hat off to you ! 🤠 🙂👏👏👏How ingenious with posting your time - who cares it was your second run? In my eyes that makes it even more impressive.

I hope you don't regret throwing your race bib into that bin on Wednesday

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Birdlady64

It was the way I felt on Wednesday, so annoying that the app failed, however, I don't think that I will regret throwing it away as I do have a record of it in my running diary, for you to see, my London Vitality Virtual 10,000 Bib number is or was 10368 🏃🏾👍

Thanks Leosmit, this morning was my 16th 10K, my PB 10K time is 69.23, which was my 4th 10K ran in September 2019.

Well done on that double 10! A shame about the tech fail though. That was a cracking time too - both of them!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Fionamags

Thanks Fionamags, I am happy if I can get a sub 75 minutes 10K or sub 35 minute 5K, this morning was my 16th, most have been run sub 75 minutes with the quickest at 69.23 🏃🏾

Well done Al! I was another waiting for your post as I did mine on Wednesday but you running 2 10Ks is amazing especially within the week 👏👏👏

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Nordicrunner

Thank you Nordicrunner, the most distance and kilometers I have run in a week is 21k which was a combination of a 10 miles run, 16K and a 5K not parkrun, however, this week was 20K which is nothing compared to some people on this forum who run treble that distance in their regular running routine.

Nordicrunner profile image
NordicrunnerGraduate1060minGraduate in reply to AlMorr

I’m in awe of those who run longer because I’m still new to running having completed the C24K in July last year. Thanks for inspiring us all Al 👏👍

Well done Al on your great run this morning and your other run on Wednesday. Now you can look forward to your medal👏👏😀👍

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to

Yes Now63, about 3 minutes after I completed the run I sent my time through a photo to the Vitality 10,000 organisation, three minutes later they congratulated me, telling me that I should get a medal and T Shirt by 19th July at the latest.

in reply to AlMorr

Whoop! Whoop!👍😀x

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to

Whoop whooop, as you can see on my profile that I am NOW75, if I was 45 and had started running at 42, not 72 perhaps I could run 3/4 times a week, say 2/10Ks and a 5K with one even long run thrown in for good measure, but being 75 I think two runs a week is sufficient for me. 😊 🏃🏾🏃🏾

in reply to AlMorr

Well I think you are amazing and such an inspiration! Your times are super unlike mine . I used to run every day when I was in the army ....that was in 1980 - 1984. Then I never actually ran again till about 2015.

I think for me if I ran on the flat like Norfolk perhaps 😂😂my times might be better. However I live in a beautiful place , I wouldn’t change it for the world so I just run as best as I can and my times .....? well they are what they are so that’ll do for me😂😂😂

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to

It does not matter what your times are, the main thing is that you enjoy your running wherever it is.

I gave running a try 3 years ago when C25K was promoted on TV during the Great Scottish Run, that was September 2017, during the winter of 2017/18 when I was going long walks I occasionally ran for about two minutes to see how I felt, so in April 2018 I began C25K and graduated 2 months later in June 2018. 😊 🏃🏾

in reply to AlMorr

Thanks Al! That’s very true I do enjoy my running😀👍x

Well done, Al! Impressed with 2 x10Ks in a week. Shame that the app let you down, though, but you submitted your faster time. Now you just have to wait for your medal! 👏👏👏👍

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to 59er

I will put my feet up for about 5 minutes, this afternoon I will take Holly the dog a walk, the owner of Holly gave me a fitness watch for my birthday the other day, at the moment I have walked /ran 16,712 steps, after the walk with Holly that will go well over 20,000 steps.

Well done Al. Brilliant that your second 10k, only 2 days after your first, was only 2 minutes slower. You’ve obviously got a lot of strength in your legs. Look on the bright side - if the tech hadn’t failed you wouldn’t have achieved 2 in 3 days 👏🏻👏🏻

Wow! You ought to have 2 medals for running 2 x 10k in one week! How very frustrating!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Frizzbomb67

Ha ha Frizzbomb67, two ten kays for the price of one, I didn't tell them, Vitality, that I ran 2/10K runs, even if I had they would not send two T shirts to me.

How frustrating Al but well done on getting out there and running another! 🏃🏽😀🏅🏅

OldgirlrunsGraduate10

Well done Al, sounds like a good run for you! Shame about the tech failure but it gave you a good excuse to do a second 10k!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Oldgirlruns

I agree with you Oldgirlruns that it gave me a reason for running a second 10K in the same week, I feel fine today, however, I am not sure what I would feel if I had ran 🏃🏾 2/10Ks in consecutive days 😊, there have been several people who have achieved that such as Grannyhugs and Buddy34..

Oldgirlruns profile image
OldgirlrunsGraduate10 in reply to AlMorr

That definitely sounds like hard work to me Al - and most unlikely to happen in my case! But the way you’re going, who knows?!

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Oldgirlruns

Ha ha OGR, I don't think that I would run 2/10Ks on consecutive days by choice😊

Doris8 profile image

Well done AlMorr your legs will be tired after 2 x 10 km in a week. Great time again. 👏👏👍

AlMorr profile image
AlMorrAmbassadorGraduate10 in reply to Doris8

My legs don't feel too bad Doris8, but as I said to OGR if I had run 2/10Ks on consecutive days things might be different regarding my legs and how I felt overall.

You're a legend in your own time Almorr - congratulations! Such a huge disappointment when your app failed, but as quite often happens in life, turned into an even bigger victory with two 10ks! You really are an inspiration, especially to those of us who have come to running later in life - thank you for that Almorr. Best wishes ☺️
