Thank you Billy Idol & my empty stomach!

Just like many of you I guess, I went out today not knowing how far I was going to run. I knew it had to be more than 5k and hoped it might be more than 7k. I decided to skip breakfast (except for one strong coffee), run, then come back and treat the family to bacon & eggs. The morning slipped by with chores, phone calls etc and I didn't get out until nearer 1pm. Everyone, except me, had eaten by then!

But, off I went towards Battersea Park, listening to runner, English Gardner, on the NRC. She's inspirational BTW. For the first time in weeks I felt light and full of breath. So I ran, and ran, and decided to head for Battersea Bridge and run back on the other side of the river.

By 8k, and nearing home, my legs felt like they were going to give up and I knew there was the option of walking the last bit. But low & behold, up pops Billy Idol on my Spotify and without even trying, my pace gathered momentum, and my feet hit the ground in time with the beat. That song, literally brought me home at a pace I'm not accustomed to.

So thank you Billy, and thank you to my family for eating without me! Perhaps running on an empty stomach works best for me. I'll certainly try it again.

My first smiley run in a long time - I hope you all have the same feeling on your next run. Happy running VRBs :) xx

Wow fantastic 58soon! It certainly seems like running on empty works for you. I do too, but I run much earlier than that. 🏃‍♀️

Happy that you enjoyed your run, and I hope you ate tons when you got home! 👏👏👏

Woohoo! 9k! Wowsa!! Whereas you flew to a beat today, I ran without music today 😱, but replaced music with a chatty hubby who joined me on my run 🥰! We also had a English Breakfast. 😛 Enjoyable Sunday runs! 👍🏽🏞

🤣🤣 well Mr CBDB walks, I run 🤣🤣🤣 (See healthunlocked.com/bridgeto... ) and I’m super slow! But it works for us.

Having said this, aren’t solo runs also just simply delicious! And especially when you get the bounce once that special song comes on!

Well done! And good timing by Billy Idol.

I know that Sunday sense of ‘more than 5k... maybe 7k...’ It’s how I crept up to 8k, 9k and 10k while never actually ‘planning’ to run those distances.

Yes, I think I’ve finally got to the place where it doesn’t actually matter how far I run, and that takes the pressure off starting. Maybe I’ll eventually creep up to 10k! Well done with yours GailX 😍😍

Well done 58soon. And well done Billy Idol. I prefer to run on an empty stomach in the morning too but my stomach would really be rumbling by 1pm. 😊

Sounds like you had fun!

It’s great when a really good tune comes on just when you’re flagging a little too...

I prefer to run on empty too...best mornings are just a double espresso and a cup of tea to get me going...😉

Assuming it was Billy Idol's " when the going gets tough, the tough get going... 'not surprised you pushed on and lived the song - very well done!
