So I wasen't really sure what to do today .

But the weather was too good to miss an opportunity.

I knew I wanted to run but I wasen't sure how far .

I have been having a few aches and niggles from my hip on the right hand side , nothing really painfull, just annoying and occasional aches and twinges .

These seem to have started after the 7.5k run I diid just about 2 weeks ago now .

I started to feel it the day after the run ,

I have been doing clamshell excercises which certainly seem to help and to be honest im not that aware of it during the run , I mean I know it's there and I'm concious of it but that's all , but I think it's making me a little tence which in turn does not help .

I'm really due another longer run but feel this would be unwise while having these issues so decided on either a 3, 4 or 5K depending on how it went .

And it was fine ! Infact again I felt I could have continued but didn't want to risk it

It was just a pleasant light breeze when I went out (just after 10:00 I think)

But I soon got up to temperature !

It was my first time back in shorts and a short sleeves t-shirt but it was perfect and an enjoyable run .

And much to my surprise around a couple of minutes quicker than most of my more recent 5K's

So, as always , glad to have run !

But let's see what the next couple of days bring !

Happy running πŸƒπŸ˜

Looks like you've got brill weather today. Great to get out and so pleased you seem to be getting over various niggles. If I've learned one thing through this journey it's to be very mindful of issues caused by overdoing things. Steady and slow seems to be the way forward. Hope your future running is injury free. πŸ‘

Many thanks !Yes I have had a few niggles on and off ,

To be honest I think I need to be a bit more active on non running days , a few more walks at least !

And yes, the weather is glorious here today 😁🌞

I agree, perfect weather today! Well done on your run - I hope the niggles become less niggly. πŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈπŸ˜ŠπŸƒβ€β™‚οΈ

Many thanks , I actually think my niggles are partly because I'm not active enough between runs , so I hope to test that theory over the next week or so 😁

Sounds like a nice run there Ian, in glorious weather. Keep an eye on those niggles though. It seems sensible to keep the mileage down a bit for a bit longer

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Birdlady64

Yes it was nice !Don't know what's going on with the niggles, but yes, I'm not going to push !

Good time to get out, before the temp got too warm πŸ₯΅ your hip problem sounds a bit like mine, caused by too many longer runs, and forced me to have a 2 week break, seems ok now 🀞

Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Ahh ok so you had hip niggles as well ?I've been wanting to get my distance back up to 10k + but definitely reluctant untill this is ok 😐

I went a bit mad in jan, doing a sponsored run for pancreatic cancer, running every other day, regular 10k's, and even a 10 miles, prob a bit too much! ☹

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Ahh.... Ok 🀣Not managed the 10 miles yet , several 10k's and a 12 but I find the niggles come around those distances.

Might be worth another appointment with the sports physio 😐

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Instructor57

I was thinking physio too, but the rest, and shorter runs, seem to have helped, and i dont run fast either!

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Well I'm hoping taking it easy will be enough !But I found an excellent local sports physio when I hurt myself on week 8 of C25k

He is an extreme marathon runner so knows his stuff 😁

It's mad, how we cant be without our running now!!! 🀣I only started in sept last year!

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

I know , it's addictive ! , I started late may last year then had 18 days on the IC after week 8 run 1 😐

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Instructor57

That must have been hard, so close to graduating c25k!

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

I was absolutely gutted at the time , but managed to go out after 18 days and complete the next run , albeit very slowly 😁

Maybe a good lesson to learn early on, not to push on too much, too soon. πŸ€”

Instructor57 profile image
Instructor57Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

To be honest I had been slow anyway , it was the last 60 seconds when Laura said you can pick the pace up now if you want and I took it too far 😐After 2 osteopath appointments and a physio appointment, LESSON LEARNT πŸ˜‚

Abductor raises are good for hips too; I do those and clams with slowly increasing band strength; maybe you do this anyway. πŸ‘

Thanks, I don't but I'll take a look πŸ‘

Yaay well done you Ian that is brilliant that must have felt good to realise you had beat your last 5k time.

It is good you are being sensible, I hope your niggles behave themselves. I totally understand how you feel about being conscious of them. I felt like that about the chest tightness I used to get scared waiting for it to happen and very sure that was not helping me.

It is so great to read your posts and how much you are enjoying your running.

Take care x

Thanks, I will keep it local as I don't want to hurt my hip, problem is there are too many hills around here.I might just cycle the bunny route 😁🐰
