5k after 2 week break 😊

Well, that was a much needed, enjoyable run, someone up there even gave me some fine, cooling drizzle to help with it, i wouldnt say the hip/groin pain has completely gone, but once into the run, didnt feel it too much, and was quite surprised, after a 2 week break, how comfortable it felt, all be it pretty slow pace, 43 mins, but just felt so good to be out running again, after a pretty hard time, but i know the rest has done me good, only 3rd run in feb.

Hope everyone else's runs today, have been enjoyable, and all those on IC, thinking of you. ☺

Yay well done Peter! Glad you got out and got the buzz you needed! πŸ˜€ Very sensible taking it steady. Easing back gently πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Thanks Indielass, i've been missing that feeling, and will try and keep runs, shortish, and well spaced apart, for now.

So great to hear you are back out running and that your hip/groin held up. You're doing great, the rest was needed. Happy running πŸ€—

Thanks GH, and your right, first proper break since starting c25k, back in sept, last year.

Well done Peter, good run for you and much needed I am sure. Good to get some head clearing time for you and a bonus the hip/groin issue didn't cause you any problems. Hope you're doing ok x [waving from the IC 😟😟]

Thanks, i was going to ask how things are with you, you've been on that couch a while now. ☹

Yep, will be 7wks this coming Sunday no running 😩 As I'm finding out, recovery from shin splints is a slow game. I guess I pushed too much as I was enjoying myself on my runs, 5km to 7km to 10km and on from there... Nothing like you and Jericho but for me, to go to regular x3 a week runs and not following a strict stretching plan caught me out. For now, it's physio exercises, STRETCHING, yoga and walks. I miss running so much but if I push it, I'll end up with a shin fracture and can't risk that. Still happy to see my gazelle buds out running, I'll be out there eventually (I hope)!

I really feel for you, must be very frustrating, my pain hasnt gone, but feels alot better, for a 2 week break, just going to take it easy for now, as i know i pushed things too far, back in jan, and right now, even short runs, will be a big help, anyway, hope it wont be too much longer for you. 🀞

Great Peter. Slow and steady so you’re not on the couch again.

Slowly plodding along. Three times a week and still enjoying it.

Brilliant! So glad you got that one under your belt! 😁A nice restorative run was just what was needed. Slow and steady does it - don't undo all that good that rest has done you

Thanks, it still amazes me, how something as simple as a run, can help. ☺

Yay. Welcome back! Glad to see you’re out and about, giving it a little test run. Keeping it nice and gentle should help you keep mobile and not worsen any niggles. πŸ‘πŸ»πŸ‘πŸ»

Teresafaith profile image
TeresafaithGraduate10 in reply to Peter44

Well, amazingly they were really ok the next day!- I thought I was going to be walking like the tin man!- had a few days rest since the 12k - off out again tommorow so we'll see how the legs hold up!

So glad to read this! Well done for your careful 5K. I can tell how good that made you feel to get out there running again.

I’ve been trying to get out there, honestly! I’m now having problems with a painful hip/groin as well, and I haven’t even been walking, but I have been up and down stepladders sorting out stuff for my move, so maybe I pulled a muscle.

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

Oh no, that's not good Jools, sounds similar to my problem, and cant really remember how, or when it started, was looking back at my runs, i did a 10 miles, then 2 days later, quite a fast for me, 10k, i think it might have been around that time.I feel for you with all the packing, i look around the house here, and think what a big job it will be packing up, but we wont be rushing into it.

I bet you could really do with a run at the moment too. ☹

Jools2020 profile image
Jools2020Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

Yes, I need to run! It’s certainly a challenge on my own packing up the house. I seem to be going backwards sometimes, the house looks like a tip. I’ve had the hip problem before and it’s already easier this evening. I think mine started on the fast walk over uneven, frozen ground 2 weeks ago. Hopefully we are both on the mend!

Peter44 profile image
Peter44Graduate10 in reply to Jools2020

I think we both need running at the moment, if i had to pack up this house on my own, dont even want to think about it, at least i'll have my brother to help, when the time comes.

Jools2020 profile image
Jools2020Graduate10 in reply to Peter44

You don’t even need to think of it right now, you’ve got enough on your plate. You’re right that we both need running though. When I’m running, I believe in myself. One run and I’ll have this house packed up in the blink of an eye! 😊

Well done Peter, I’m genuinely pleased for you, it’s great to hear you’ve managed to get out there for a run. I haven’t been out for a few days, it’s great to be back at work but I’m knackered when I get home and have taken to having an afternoon nap 😴 between 4 and 6 ! .....Hoping to have more energy soon and test out those new running shoes πŸ‘Ÿ πŸ‘

Thanks Geoff, it did feel good to be back out there, and i was on my own too, which actualy was quite nice today, my daughter's moving out in a few weeks, so i'll lose my running partner, but started on my own, so will get used to it again.I'm back at work on mon, which will be a shock to the system, i quite often have an afternoon nap! 😴

Thank you Fiona, was good to read about your run with your friend, it is nice sometimes to chat, while running, like i've said, i'll be losing my running partner, my daughter, who's moving in with her boyfriend.

Well done on getting back out there Peter πŸ‘πŸ» glad it felt pretty good especially after a decent break. I've got work in morning so il either get up extra early and go for a quick one then or il take another rest day and go Friday morning.

Yeah!!! πŸ™Œ Welcome back, Peter. 😁 So pleased for you. It seems an age since you were last running, but probably not that long in reality. Hope the niggles stay in their place. I notice that you posted yesterday - how is the body doing now?

Thanks Gail, it was only 2 weeks, but as you say, felt like ages, we need our fix, every few days really, will try not to over do things now, and dont feel too bad today.
