Lovely weather down here 🌞 was thinking about my usual 7k route, but as it was so nice out, thought I might stretch it a bit, which involved going through Watford's main park, to get on the canal, probably not the best idea on a sunny sunday afternoon, place was packed ☹ soon learnt my polite excuse me's weren't working, so had to be a bit more assertive, to get through 🤣 once on the canal, the crowds were slightly less, but still hard work, and yesterdays snow/rain, had left alot of puddles, and mud, was thinking about JOOLS 2020 comments about, hoppity, skipaty, round them 🤣
Anyway, found another 10k route, maybe not for a sunny, sunday pm, towards the end, was probably feeling my fri 10 miles, so no temtation to carry on, about 78km towards my PC total. 😊💜
Hope some of you have got this 🌞 today, for your runs!
The photo was a quieter bit of the canal.

Great run avoiding all those people. You're going to reach your target with a week to spare at this rate. We keep leepfrogging eachother but I think you'll finish 1st, the gritters were out this morning so that doesn't bode well for my run tomorrow. Happy running 🤗
The weather down here, is 🌞 one day, then 🌧 the next, at least the rain will keep some of the crowds inside 🤣 yes, the total looking good, but dont want to jinx it, hope you can get out tomorrow. 😊
I’ll be out, my problem is stopping myself going when it’s icy, I sit looking out the window waiting for it to melt enough, I’m a little bit driven, beware😂
So far, on this 🏃♂️ journey, not much has stopped me going out, i repeated w1 of c25k, with a bad knee, but have probably done 3 runs a week, since then, hate saying that, as almost hurt my ankle, on a kerb today! 🤞Snow might be different though!🤣
Hope you took it a bit steadier than usual after your epic 10 mile run! Well done for the hoppity skippety 😂. I didn’t have to do that today, entirely road running. No mud.
That’s a brilliant total, 78K! You must be pleased with that.
Well, first 1k was 7:20, and 6k was 7:09, which wasnt planned, and for me, is fast, strava average was 7:39, nrc said 8:07 🤷♂️Set out thinking i'd do my 7k route, but like i said, nice and sunny, just felt like doing a bit more, oh, and no tights today! 🤣
Your pace is improving with every run, I’m going to have trouble keeping up 😂
I was actually too warm in tights today but it was chilly to start with. I hate being cold at the start of the run. I will not admit to sweating at the end 😂
Well done , I know it's tough with so many people around- luckily I had a lovely sunny 7k today - my FIRST EVER! And all the walkers have disappeared again for some strange reason. 🤔
Well done on your run Peter (and your 78k total) and yes, sunshine here in the Surrey hills too, despite the chill.🙂 Lots of folk out on the bridleways where I run too but luckily there are some quieter trails as well. I have to confess I enjoyed running through puddles and mud as walkers picked their way around the edge! I even saw someone giving their partner a piggy back across one particularly muddy area, as I ploughed through!
Thanks, look at you, wading through the puddles, i'm not so brave 🤣 i know we all have to share, the tow paths, etc, it's quite new for me to be out with so many people about, did most of my c25k, in the evenings after work, when it was dark, and quiet.
More distance on your clock! Phew! This was going to be a quick one too, you said.🤣 The best laid plans... 😂 I think the hoppity-skippety could be seen as a specific running drill.
I didnt mention it in the post, but almost went over on my ankle, hoppity, skipperty'ing of a pavement, before i even got to the puddles of the canal. 🤣
Hmm. Yes, I can see that that’s the potential downside of this ‘drill’. Take green care! We don’t want you derailed by injury. (As I’ve got older those twisted ankles of my younger days turned into fractures.)
Hey, that’s excellent another 10k in the bag for you 👍🏻👍🏻 And that 100k is looking so close already, your mileage is so impressive, and not long after your 10 miler 🦌🦌 I think we have another natural long distance runner coming up along with Jericho!! Though not sure anyone can catch him these days 😂 I suffered the same as you today with all the walkers out and about, dodging in and out and this being London, plenty of “verbals” from stubborn walkers who think holding hands with their partner and walking 2-3 abreast on a narrow path forcing me into the road to avoid a collision is perfectly ok 😤 I think I am going to have to get back to my early morning runs!
Well done getting a good run in despite the people dodging . Another 10k -wow- you’re really hammering those Km now. I did 6k yesterday, still on the treadmill as it was still icy- glad I’ve got back into it though after so long not running- my aim is to keep it short until I build my strength back up - I’ll enjoy watching you gazelles taking off!
Glad your able to do some more km's, blimey, after everything you've been through, and back at work too, at least you dont have the people dodging, on the treadmill. 🤣
A good 10k run by the sound of it apart from having to dodge all the people in the park. My step daughter went to Greenwich Park today and said it was packed ! Everyone seems to have had the same idea.
Sunny blue sky in my part of London yesterday so couldn't resist a 5k even thoughI had been out soggy saturday for a little 3k😁, quite busy with the 'entitled pedestrians' walking 2+ abreast and not willing to share😡luckily road wasnt busy so ended up there!slowly building back up to 15k(pre christmas) and determined not to be a weather wimp😀
It felt like national, go for a walk day, yesterday, they were probably saying the same about us runners 🤣 good you got some km's done, i did my first 10 miles, last week 🥵 might stick to slightly shorter runs for a bit. 🤔
I don’t get to read everyone’s posts as much as I would like to..... you are doing brilliantly, and then read further down your posts thread and saw you had ran 10 mile!!! Epic is definitely the word. Congrats💪👍🏻👏
Thanks, the plan was to build up to it, but i also did this, with 10k, not the best way, i know 🤣 but got there, so will now maybe do some shorter runs for a bit, i just dont have any plans, set in stone, just see how i feel, most of the time! 🤣
Well done on another 10k Peter 💪🏻 i missed this yesterday. Those crowds certainly are annoying! 🤣 I'm not running tomorrow as I've finally got my first job of the year booked in! 🤣💪🏻 Off Wednesday though so il be adding to the total then 👍🏻
Thanks, yep, a bit closer to that 100k, glad you've got some work, hope your knee's ok, after that 19k 🤔 might do a shorter one tomorrow, i'm feeling the 16k, then a 10k, will see how it goes! 🤷
Yeah be safe, enjoy a shorter run! I may do that Wednesday. The knee has been ok, felt a little weak after the run but suppose that's to be expected! It's felt decent today, a little tender when going upstairs. I think the extra rest day may be a blessing in disguise but I'm gonna miss running tomorrow! Fingers crossed be good and fit for a speed attempt on Wednesday 🤞🏻
Have a good run tomorrow and don't worry il be skiving off throughout the day to read up on all the runs! 🤣
Thank you. I am still not well but I am accepting this is going to take time and looking forward to when I can run again. Brilliant reading everyone’s posts
